Good clean A/C Serpentine TPI turbo setup with a BBS header
Just looking for a few good clean pics.
Want a top one, a hood up level at it pic and a few from other angles.
Kicking around a few things and need some clear quality pics.
I know someone has to have a few
Thanks,
Jeremy

Street Lethal,
Is that your serpentine setup? If it is it looks clean.
Does the tensioner keep the belt tight the way its routed?
What pulley did you use on the tensioner?
Are you using the stock camaro AC bracket?
Do you have any more pics of the serpentine setup?
Sorry for so many questions, I just like the way it looks and want to know how it was done.

That setup belongs to TurboedTPI, the full article can be found below. From the pictures though, it looks like he's not running the A/C delete pulley at all, and utilized a much shorter belt. He'll probably see this thread, and will chime in soon....

Thanks for the link. I've seen his car before and did not put 2 and 2 together. I'll do another search and see if I come up with some pics. Hopefully he'll chime in.
Thanks,
Dave

Room for a 90* bend for DP and runs under the manifold and out.

Hopefully I'll be putting this back in my vrt with a 383Lt1 but I can never make up my mind and might be getting rid of this turbo setup again.

hey man that is a gorgeous setup! I have an 87 z-28 tuned port car and I just bought a t4 turbo with external wastegate....I'm interested in how you routed your exhaust, custom or a kit? Please mail me back asap...I would really appreciate your help! Again beautiful setup man gotta love those tuned ports!!

Re: Good clean A/C Serpentine TPI turbo setup with a BBS header
That setup above isn't mine, but the BBS single turbo setups route the exhaust pretty much the same way in all applications. The downpipe runs down past the A/C delete box (if one is used), then connects to the cataltytic converter. Some people opt to install a cutout just before the catalytic converter, or to simply remove the converter altogether. You have an '87, w/out the serpentine setup, so yours would look similar to this one....;

Re: Good clean A/C Serpentine TPI turbo setup with a BBS header
So no one actually has A/C intact and working with a BBS turbo manifold, like the original question asked?

Re: Good clean A/C Serpentine TPI turbo setup with a BBS header
Here is my manifold. Clearly it must be for the v-belt stuff because its not gonna work with serpetine with either AC or delete pulley.
Sure i could rotate the housing abit more but still dont think its gonna clear at all
Any bbs designed header for AC must move the turbo back i would guess but then i'm not sure where the downpipe would go?

Thanks Orr.
Just trying to figure a few things out or find out if I'm building my own headers
I am keeping air conditioning for the cool factor, both literally and physically lol

Re: Good clean A/C Serpentine TPI turbo setup with a BBS header
You could easily mimic the BBS design and just shift the turbo back alittle to keep AC. Aslong as you locate a good thick flange and can tack weld, you can build one. Just have someone finish weld it. Or if you can weld you'll be ok. I made my twin manifolds for my build with basic exhaust pipe, 1 3/4" header material. It wasnt all that bad, but obviously twins are harder to do our cars. Single manifold would be fairly easy to do, especialy if you make a log design.
Its just gonna get tight in there between the canister and heaterbox when you run the downpipe. Not sure of your hp goals, but I believe decent singles for a 305-355 ish engine would use 3" downpipe and still have room to run it. T70 turbo or similar. My T60 uses the same P-trim as the T70 and its 3" down.
But i do remember BBS was selling these single manifolds for both serpetine setups and Vbelts, and i think for AC as well. I must have the v-belt version but it looks like every other BBS header i've seen. I know i've seen a twin turbo BBS setup for AC cars which to me is amazing but uses small turbos so your limited on actual power you can make.

Re: Good clean A/C Serpentine TPI turbo setup with a BBS header
Heres what I found.
If u go to Bermudezdesigns.com and go to the gallery and blow the little pictures there up(Im blind, well almost but not quite) there is a serpentine belt car with A/C and a BBS manifold.
It does appear to be slightly back and twisted more towards the pass fender to clear the A/C compressor.
Might have 2 of these projects going at once if my nephew goes boosted as well.
Well, it appears I can make it work, now lay out all the ground work.

Re: Good clean A/C Serpentine TPI turbo setup with a BBS header
No one here uses the BBS turbo manifold for A/C(installed and operating) equipped cars with a serpentine belt?
Just want to see a couple pics from other peoples cars.
Only pic I can find is the small pic at the BBS' site...................
