blower cam selection
The cam I have right now is a comp 270h magnum.
rpm range 1800-5800
lobe ctr ang= 110*
dur In/ex= 270
dur @ .050= 224/224
valve lift in/ex= .470/.470
lobe lift in/ex=.313/.313
The cam I'm thinking about swapping lunati blower grind part no. 01006
rpm range 2200-6000
lobe ctrf ang= 112*
dur in/ex=303*/313*
dur @ .050=234*/244*
valve lift in/ex=.488/.509
lobe lift in/ex=.325/.339
Will I see that much of a difference if I swap in this cam. the motor is a 350 small block 9:1
144 weiand blower
edelbrock performer rpm heads
pro billet dist., msd 6btm boost retard
hedman 1 5/8 to a 3'' and then a flowmaster 40
IS IT WORTH IT??????????

I couldn't tell you whether it's worth it or not, but according to everything I've read about blower specific cams, you want something at 112-114 LSA, and have your exhaust duration 8-10 degrees higher than your intake to help get rid of the exhaust better. There's no problem getting the charge into the cylinders on a blower car.

Re: blower cam selection
Can anybody guess an approx. HP difference. I think the cam now is just blowing half my boost out the exhaust.

Re: blower cam selection
So - if you want to know whether it's worth changing cams for, I would say definately "yes", and I think you will see a difference in power. When I built my present setup, I looked for a cam that would perform well with small blowers.
I called a few cam companies and answered a bunch of questions and got thier recommendations, because I'm no expert when it comes to all cam profiles. I don't have the time (or $$$) to experiment with all kinds of different cams.

I've also noticed sometimes that it bogs at wot. Its getting too much fuel that it can't burn all of it. Does anyone think this is due to the mismatched cam? Fuel pressure is OK and pump is good.

What kind of cam are you running with your magnacharger? There's such a jungle of cams out there for forced induction its tough to make a final decision. Back to the search board for me.

Re: blower cam selection
that lunati grind is gonna give you better throttle response and a better driving car all around....just a way better blower cam that what you have in there now. As far as horsepower gains go, too many variables involved to even begin to guess that.

Re: blower cam selection
Since you have decent heads that cam will work. The flowmaster 40 is plugging up your exhaust. I would replace it will something that actual flows well. If you look at flow figures for mufflers......flowmaster is usually the worst.

Re: blower cam selection
But is this cam wasting volumetric efficiency that bad. Is that why it floods itself at wot and then letting off? Fuel pressure is 9psi and the carb is boost refrenced.
