compressor reference port?

Ok I'm going to install a manual boost controller and it says locate the compressor reference port. I'm 100% positive my turbo doesnt have any port besides for a little square which appears to be factory welded shut. Please help! Can I run it to a carburetor vacuum source or intake manifold source or even the blow off valve vacuum port instead?

Re: compressor reference port?

You can reference the boost controller anywhere between the compressor and throttle blades. It just needs to see positive pressure (boost). I would not recommend using a vacuum source.

Re: compressor reference port?

there is no port or anything between the compressor and turbine blades... Would it be possible to use an intake manifold or vacuum port? Or could I weld a bung on my intake pipe and run a vacuum line to that?

Re: compressor reference port?

Yes, you'll have to create your own reference point by either welding or tapping a fitting in your compressor, intake tubing, or elbow.

so just to clarify because I dont really feel comfortable drilling into my compressor lol, I can attach a hose to the pipe containing the blow off valve if I wanted?

Re: compressor reference port?

The red arrow points to where I tapped my TB hat for the boost controller/wastegate reference point. The blue arrows are other places along the intake tubing that would've also worked.
