383 power, what mod to go with?

Alright, running with a 350, converted to the 383, the block is in decent condition, my only problem is I have been going back and forth between either dual turbo or just running a supercharger? regardless they will be running nitrous 200, 250? allong with that I will be using a high CFM race carb probably running a higher octane that normal regardless turbo or charger. I know just bolting on a charger would be nice, less work, but I like hands on and I am a decent fabricator and don't mind getting my hands dirty with some good old work, so my question to you is what's better turbo or super charged?

Nitro methane is for rediculously high CR and you have to have special fuel components that are compatible with it. It will eat normal rubber line and gasket and such.

They aren't any "bolt on" Turbo kits from what I have seen around this site. So that would definitely be fabrication/hands on. If you want to run Nitrous and Forced Induction you better build that lower end up as tough as possible or I see things flying apart in your future.

Re: 383 power, what mod to go with?

and should I get the turbo and machine work done when ever or get the turbo first? If I would know the specs for the engine pathr such as the crank and cam can I just get the turbo now and go off of the spec sheet? or wait and get the block together before really deciding what I need

If you have capabilties or the money to have someone do it, go turbo. for a 383 you will need/want a T6 flanged turbo and at least around 72+mm

I run a T6 74mm turbo on my 383 and its great! Did all the fab work myself.

Look into a borg warner S400 turbo.

Wont need nitrous and turbo... just use one or the other. Not both.

S400 with one of the larger wheels will do everything you will want to put that block through.

with me right now I am bringing the standard 350 4 bolt mane to get the machine work done, the first step of many!
How far are you on yours?

and it's still in debate with me over getting a blower or turbo? but deff will be with nitrous

Re: 383 power, what mod to go with?

I just dont see the advantage of running nitrous with boost. yeah it can cool down your intake charge ALOT but meth/water injection can do just as good. Strong 383 on 10psi will run low 10's, how much more power do you want? At that level you are starting to get abit on the edge with stock GM blocks but some have pushed well into the 9s.
I would just be worried about air distribution and nitrous distribution under the boosted conditions. Most intakes have problems as it is with air distribution, adding nitrous to the mix only complicates things in my eyes. It would have to be a direct port type setup which isnt cheap. For more power why not just turn theboost up instead of going with spray?

If you can fab up the stuff yourself, I would go turbo over blower but nothing wrong with a nice procharger setup.

Re: 383 power, what mod to go with?

The only issue their is that I had wanted to run a carb, ya you can inject blowers but it's not really what I was thinking, for now, but ya it will be ran with all forged internals allong with aluminum heads, and a comp cam

allong with that just woundering in your opinion, I had seen on ebay titanium valve springs, would that be something to look into?

O and the power the engine will be putting out naturally aspirated about 550, and nitrous for "that special occasion". and the nice thing about the blower, for me I know it would be a lot better to install less clutter no turbo pipes to worry about and not as bad with tuning?

But ya I think I might clean off my block a little more just for transportation (shop porb. will acid dip it for me) and I will put a picture of it up here

and I am thinking an 8-71 weiand blower

Forged internals are great but i am with Orr89RocZ on this. At the HP levels you are talking about, which sounds like about 1000 total with boost and nitrous, you are far exceeding the limitations of a factory block.
