Fastburn heads for turbo?

Hey guys quick and simple here I wanted your opinions on using GMs Fastborn cylinder heads on a 383 miniram turbo setup. They are 210cc and 62cc chamber.

Issues I can see are the deck possibly not being thick enough.

That and the valves are slightly smaller which is going to put greater stress on the exhaust valve, however I believe the fastburn heads run sodium filled valves. Opinions?

The miniram I have to use is a miniram III so I am limited to Vortec style heads, the best of which being the fastburns.

biggest issue I can see is 383 CID with 62cc chambers. That could cause a rather high static compression ratio quite frankly.

the heads are fine, i know a guy at my local track right now running a set on a 350 with a procharger(P1-SC model) @ 12psi. All you have to do is buy the right pistons to put your compression where you want it...thats if you already have the heads and you're building the motor from scratch.

Sorry man I dissagree. The best vortech style head for the money is the etec 200 edelbrock head. The best vortech style period is the new afr vortech heads but it is a lot more expensive. The fastburn is an old casting that has been out performed many times. I have a set of the 200cc etecs sitting on my bench for sell currently. I went with the afr 195 comp heads for my new setup but the edelbrocks did very well on my 383. Shoot me a pm if you want any specs on the etecs. I'd make you a great deal on them too.

I said if he already HAVE the heads, go ahead and use them, i've seen them make great power on very "basic" combos. The thread wasn't about comparing heads....on the other hand, i've seen high dollar heads on motors that don't run worth a ****! decent heads are vital to making power but there's more to it.

Yeah dude wasn't talking to you. I was responding to the author saying the best vortech option was the fastburn heads. I originally intended on paying those heads for my project years ago but did the research and found the etecs were a superior product and cost less than the gm fastburns. I would agree that you dont need high dollar heads to make good power (especially with a forced induction setup ) As stated previously, if you already have the fastburn heads, great, if not you should know there are better options out there.
