new setup questions
posted originally in wrong area, since no one offered any advice, good or bad,
couldn't pass up the engine, and now trying to make it work on a budget, any help on what I can keep,re-use or get new,I have a mallory uni lite dizzy and coil, but it's wired thru a ballast resistor that gets real hot,on the donor car('69 nova)and looks like have to use the 2 wire alt. because of having to use the v-pulley stuff, motor is in,and 5speed in,now where to go with the wiring, really don't want to hack my original TPI harness

Re: new setup questions
Not really sure about what your asking here, but if your asking about the stock TPI wiring you don't need to hack it at all. In fact, you can completely remove it. If you jack up the rearend, you will see a terminal connector that leads from (through) the body to the intank fuel pump. Disconnect that from the stock harness, then run your own fuel pump relay in conjunction with a power, ground and switched 12-volt source. A popular fuel regulator is the Mallory 4309, which brings pressure down from TPI demand to a more friendly carb demand. You can mount it right on the alternator bracket in place of the current one that is on there. As for the distributor, I would just run a vacuum advanced one with adjustable vacuum canister, but that is just my opinion. Looks like a very interesting swap, best of luck with it....

Re: new setup questions
thanx, those are ideas i'm looking at,just got some headers from here on thirdgen, trying to figure out what can retain with use of ecm, isn't vats tied in,thing like oil pressure switch enabling fuel pump other than wire and switches, same for cooling fans, using existing harness wires for early alternator etc...

Re: new setup questions
You can most certainly retain e-fan, fuel pump, VATS and TCC function (if so equipped) with the stock ECM, but your first post said that you don't want to hack the original harness up, and keeping the stock harness is going to require you to do so. Not that much hacking, per se, but enough work to it to get everything to work right for you. There are a lot of routes you can take to achieve the same goal though in the end, so give it some thought...

Re: new setup questions
the mallory 4309 is listed in summit as 3-12 psi,i'm gonna need something more, maybe like a aeromotive 13301(3-65psi)to use exist hf/hv pump, will need a return bypass regulator, how about 2 regulators?1st high pressure ,return then a lower pressure regulator at the holley 650 on the b&m supercharger?
