lol tis not a ****** machine,ok ok with the mismatched rims and primer it does resemble one, but not for much longer
decided to have some fun on the streets today after i droped the wife off at work , took a nice 15min long video of screwing around but unfortunatly the dam camaera ended up pointed at the sky for most of it lmfao. so that didnt work out to well
i really need to find someway to mount my iphone on the dash.
i dont have power steering so i dislike holding the phone with one hand while screwing around , dam car will get away from u pretty damn fast

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
its not that its off there whats happening is im getting false ae triggering due to noise on the tps wire so i have ae threshold set higher then normal , so at just off idle there is no ae enrichment at very light throttle opening
i know what the issue is , the harness that i got with the ms ( bought used) was homemade and did not have a shielded wire for the ignition , and thats were the noise is comming from.
i have a brand new harness from diyautotune to put in the car trouble is finding a day i can be without the car to install it as my truck is still down

Come on Dave, throw up a real video. Give us a walk around, give us some details during the videoing, and maybe a short burnout with the wife filming it from outside of the car. Oh, and the daytime may help a little too lol...

nice, i miss e-town but dont miss anything else about crappy *** new jersey.
btw the transmission didnt break or burn up , the aduster on the tv cable let the cable come out of adustment , when i would go wot the cable would only pull about 1/4 of the way.
got that fixed now my tv valve is sticking, its stuck at about halfway so now the car wont shift till about 3,200 rpms makes me look like an a-hole when driving around town but nothing i can do about it till i get the car back on my friends lift to fix it.
which hopefully will be tommorow depnding on how i feel i just got out of the hospital for an abscessed tooth

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
i would do a th400. on a turbo car with a low gear (sub 3.50) it would still be real streetable. if not that i would do a 4l80. th350 could get it done, but the 400 is a sure bet.

if this 700r4 dont hold up ill switch out to a pg or th400 , car has 2:73's in it now at most i might put some 3.08's in it
the 700 has one of danas top of the line kits in it should be good for 725 hp

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
thanks this is the only time ill be able to make it to the track this year before the season ends. sesaon is really short here. so i plan on running this thing hard
only thing that sucks is there is no tnt on the 30th so i have to put the car in a class to race so runs maybe limited.
ive got the 50hp nitous jets in the car now , i think im going to swap them for the 75 shot and pray the headgaskets hold

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
not a good day should have known better as soon as the trailer got a flat in town.
anyways loaded up the car onto the trailer this morning get everything in the truck and go down to the gas station to fill the truck and notice the one trailer tire is getting low.
turns out i picked up a roofing nail in my parking lot. get that fixed and start heading north.
trucks running good then i hit the second mountian pass, had the truck floored and it would barley maintain 35/40mph going up the pass, i just figured it was due to the weight of the camaro and trailer. clear the pass and keep going , about 30 miles more and the truck starts running a lil rough.
made it about 80 miles out of town when the ecm took a dump in the truck again.ended up calling some friends to see if i could get somone to come pick up the trailer and get the truck towed. luckily my friend works at one of the shops in town and was able to grab the shops towtruck . so i unload the iroc and leave the wife with the truck and trailer, and haul as sback to town to meet my friend so i can drive his truck back up to grab the trailer while he towed the truck back on the flatbed.
one hell of an expensive day for not getting a dam thing done
im ready to pull the factory tbi crap off the truck and put a 4bbl intake, qet and hei vacum advance on it and call it good

Put a 1994-95 truck 7427 ECM in it. Night & day better.
It can control a 700R4, 4L60E, 4L80E, manual trans.

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
to much work , i dont need better either i just need working lmao.
i thinkt he 747 is a direct swap my friend came over with his dads tbi 92 with an auto and it has a 747 conecctors are the same , just need to verify pinouts.
first things first before i put another ecm in it is i have to find out whats causing the ecms do die
im going to assume for the moment the 02 wire is grounded somewere or shorted to a 5 or 12v + wire
my vacation is over so time to hunt down the issue is limited right now , not to mention we went from summer to what apears to be rain season lol , its rained just about everyday for the last 2 weeks
i thinkt he 747 is a direct swap my friend came over with his dads tbi 92 with an auto and it has a 747 conecctors are the same , just need to verify pinouts.

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
airport drags are tommorow and sunday down in st george, im waiting for my friend to text or call me when he gets to his shop , so i can head over mount up my slicks, and make a few suspension adjustments. and then swap out the rear gears for a set of 3:08's.
should be heading out around 6am tommorow, depending on how well the car hooks up ill be aiming for boost in the 16-23ish psi range after the first pass or 2.
For the first 1-2 passes im going to play it safe and run it with my daily driver street tune which is 9 psi and 19* total ign timing

ended up not running as i blew out the passengerside header gasket.if it wasnt for the fact that that downpipe has my wideband in it i prolly would have ran it like that but the leak was screwing with my wideband reading. my tune isnt 100% yet so im using afr target tables underboost for correction. with the funky wb readings that could have been disaster

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
headers dropped off at machine shop , the one warped slightly, prolly wasnt enough to cause major issues and prolly would have sealed up just fine but i figured what the hell its off lets get it machined flat.
i also started wet sanding the primer car should be going back into the paint booth this weekend for round 2 of epoxy primer. i will say this anyone thinking about using summits brand of epoxy primer , dont hesitate, my biggest concern with it is that it would sand like concrette , it sand very nicely , wet sanding it with 220 grit is no problem at all
i also had some really wild stencils made up for the car for when we spray the base/pearl/clear , im not letting the cat out of the bag just yet but i assure u this will be one wild paint job , im doing the car jet gloss black with red, blue, and silver pearls

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
im having no luck something gave up the ghost in the engine today, dropped the wife off at work then drove to work and all was fine , had to run home for something at lunch time started the engine and i got a knock, its not constant with rpm or constant at all.
its a complelty random knock but it is very loud, im going to assume either the cam started to go flat or its pulling a rocker stud out and the engine is running a lil rough , oil presure is still good though
tommorow i should know what the verdict is , hopefully its just a rocker stud. 9am were going to tow it over to my friends farm and im going to tear open the top end of the motor to see whats going on

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
didnt tow the car , i fired it up this morning and it knoccked one time them quit , so i started to drive it over , about halfway there it developed a constant knock that varied with rpm and then it stopped again so its in the bottom end ,
my friend has a ton od sb's laying around so he gave me my choice of 3 engines a sbc 400 and 2 sbc 350's
the 400 is a 2 bolt main with 882 heads needs a hone, rings and bearings
one of the 350's is a 72 truck 4 bolt main 350 with 993 heads which i cant find any info on
and the last engine has been sitting outside and is a late model 350 tbi truck 350 1 piece rms and setup for a roller cam , but has a flat hyd in it , the cyls were rusted from water getting in the ports. i filled the cyls with oil and it finally broke free were i could turn the engine over . that engine had one pin rod bearing but it only hurt the rod not the crank ,
im thinking of using the roller block so i can swap to a roller cam and snag one rod out of my current engine to replace the damaged rod . then ditch the swirl port heads for my ported 882's and reuse the forged speedpro pistons out of the current engine
any of u guys happen to know anything about the 993 heads

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
been pricing up parts and i think i know what im going to do
reuse my 4 bolt block and forged crank/pistons if its not damaged
do a simple hone rering , polish the crank open up the bearing clearances juts a tad and switch back to a set of king engine bearings
swap out the current cam for a comp cams XE268H and do behive springs, with roller rockers
resuse the 882's and go back and give them a full port job as of now they just were cleaned up with some bowl and pocket work
after that drop the tpi back on it and swap out the gt3076's for the pair of gt3582's i have sitting here
