n20 just to spool it up I take it? Thats fast man, really your looking for 9-10 second passes? Makes my dreams of a 12-13sec pass look sloooow!

Not to jack your thread but what do you think I can run PSI wise at the max? In 2 weeks im going down that track with 12psi and if that works 13psi is the next step.

no ill be using nitrous down track in high gear only.

im hoping to go 9:20's or faster

u knwo ur tuned at 12psi so when u get comforatble with it turn it up 2 psi check the tune and then when ur comfortable go 2 more psi check the tune etc etc etc.

u can go way over 20 psi as long as its tunned right

Do you have SSH access to your phone over your wireless network? If so, use WinSCP and transfer the files over that way. Just my thought on it, I've never had a rooted android so that's just a guess.

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt

small update

turns out the used megasquirt i bought didnt have the pwm flyback circut installed whihc was the main reason for my tunning issues with the low-z injectors

its a huge surprise i didnt fry the ecm or my high dollar injectors driving the car without the correct injector driver installed, i have the few parts i need to install the pwm circut ordered and on the way soon as they get here ill have the car up and running again

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt

my parts for the flyback circut just came in from diyautotune unfortunatly i am missing one mica insulator for the tip125 transitors.

not there fault though when i ordered the tip125's they came in 2 packs so i just assumed the mica insulator/install kit also came with a pair of them WRONG!!!!!!!!!

only place i can get them locally is radioshack which is 65miles away so i have to wait till i make my trip up that way on tuesday to pick up another mounting/insulator kit

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt

ok got the parts to fix my ecm
dam radio shack didnt have any 1/4 wat 270ohm resitors so i had to buy 1/2 watt ones which made them hard to fit since they are about 3x the size

first up how my ecm was ( member i bought it from told me it was a v3.57 which it wasnt **** me off ) and its missing a few circuts the most important was the peak and hold injector driver which i need since im running low z injectors. its a wonder the car even ran without the circut installed

pic of board as was
Name: IMAG0005.jpg
Views: 134
Size: 77.3 KB

few bucks in parts from radio shack and the 2 tip125 transitors from diyautotune
Name: IMAG0006.jpg
Views: 120
Size: 49.7 KB

and finally the circut installed ( circled in red)
Name: IMAG0007.jpg
Views: 121
Size: 73.0 KB

if it dosent start raining here in the next few mins ima go reinstall the ecm and take the car out for a spin, though i have a feeling my ve map is going to be way way off now that the ecm can properly control my injectors

if its not to far off and i can drive it ill grab some videos

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt

past few days i have been talking witht he designer of the ms system.

it looks like the member here who i bought the unit from may have sold me a fried unit since ive had issues with it from day 1

i have some more testing to do per the desiner of the ms systems to know for sure though

unfortunatly i shoudl have trusted my gut and not bought it from somone with only 2 posts .

and when i got the unit i should have asked for a refund and sent it back anyway since it was advertised as a version 3.57 when reality it was only a 3.0

anyways ill keep u guys updated when i get more info

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt

If he ran low-Zs or you did on it and it's set up for high-Zs you probably fried the MS2 module. Does it start flaking out and you have to reprogram it? If so do your self a favor and either replace the CPU module or just start over. Hate to say that, but that's what I ended up having to do b/c of my weird issues.

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt

i ran low -z's unfortunatly without the pwm flyback circut , id didnt know it wasnt installed

it is installed now

fortunatly the other current protection circut was installed so it doesnt look liek it burned anything up

the problem was noticed because of my cranking settings.
typically these are 400-100% cold to hot
with these settings my motor will flood when i am cranking, and by flood i mean almost to the point of hydrolock

my current settings are 106-10% cold to hot and the car starts up and idles fine
according to one of the ms creators there is no way my engine should fire whith such lil commanded fuel during cranking

his exact quaote was these settings are wildy off

he gave me some stuff to check and try again which i am going to go do in a little while

if the ms2 cpu is bad i will revert to ms1 with msn extra code, the only thing i will lose is my stepper iac driver which im actually not using anyways, but i will gain 4 extra input and outputs

the ms1 cpu is 22 bucks vs the ms2 which is 111$
if i am going to spend 111 $ on a new cpu i might as well just upgrade to ms3 cpu

i dont have to reflash the code or anything and im not getting any wierd errors other then the very funky pw settings

and to be honest i wouldnt mind the swap back down to ms1 extra on every install with ms i have done or tunned i have always used the ms1 extra code so i am much much more familiar with it , i can practically have a car tuned from scratch in 2 hours with ms1 extra code

its not actually that bad, specially if u have assembled a unit before
when u follwo the directions u assemble the board in sections

i.e power supply then clock circut then input section retc etc

so u do learn what each part is for and what it does makes it alot easier if somehting breaks and u need to fix it

even for somone with no electronics experiance the manual and kits are so well layed out it is very hard to make a mistake.

3 most important things

#1 u need a well lit uncluttered work area
#2 cant get distracted when working on it
#3 u need a pretty steady hand to solder some of the stuff

anyways i ran the test as i was told, engine started much easier and idled at a much better afr then before.
i didnt get to test everything though as i ran out of time and had to head home so my gf could have the car to get to work. tommorow ill head back to my friends house were i have the car parked and finish up

were thinking one of the injector drivers is flaking out tommorow i will know for sure ( i hit both headers with an infared temp gun ds bank is running around 150* hotter then the ps bank )

hopefully by tommorow night ill have this whole thing sorted out and be able to start driving the car again without having all the issues ive been having

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt

its been 100*+ here so i havent even touched the car, and ontop of that i just got my silverado back from the shop after a clutch install. new clutch is not working right. since the track is so far away 300 miles to vegas or rmr in slc i wont drive the iroc that far for its first few outings.

so till the truck is 100% the car is just sitting in a field at a friends house.
im going to be pissed if the shop dont fix the clutch i paid good money to have the clutch job done so i wouldnt have to.
dam truck has 4wd with the nv4500 trans which is one big heavy sob without the xfer case attached to it

It's been 100+ degrees over here too, and I definitely feel your pain. I see you looking around for a big turbo because your considering losing the twins. Just started working on another set of single turbo headers w/T4 flange, so let me know if you need a set Dave, they're so damn easy to make...

Have an old set of Pacesetter headers for my old 3.1, could easily make them the way I did for the 305 Tuned Port engine if you need. Paid a lot for them new though. Either way, good luck with the V6 build, should be pretty sweet...

... lmao, I'm not planning on doing 200-mph on the highway anytime soon, I have enough speeding tickets. Although 200-mph is not too difficult to accomplish, as gearing, weight and aerodynamics have a great deal to do with that and not just raw horsepower. A good example is Callaway, his sledgehammer was only making 800-HP when he ran 254-mph.

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt

This $90 dollar V6 junkyard engine is pushing a little more boost than you are, has two valves per cylinder like your engine, is running meth like your engine, is running a rising rate fuel regulator with a blind 1-BAR ECM, but makes more horsepower than you (516-WHP). Do you know why? Don't tell him Dave, lets see if he can figure out why on his own...

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt

i had one of those cars

originally a 2.2L n/a engine
picked up a turbo new yorker with a blown trans and swaped all the turbo stuff over
then later upgraded to the mopar/foward motion super 60 turbo kits
300hp 4 door dodge shadow was alot of fun, was also my very first car, the duster was the v6 model, though the shadow es also came with a 3l v6

got busted doing 140+ on rt18 comming back from seaside racing a 5.0 stang
oldbridge cop tagged me right before i hit east brunswick. thats the reason i lost my liscensce when i was younger

Bingo, 516-WHP with the stock heads and cams, stock injectors, stock NA ECM, but with a rising rate fuel regulator and bigger turbo. You said in the post above that its time for you to learn some more tricks, well the only other trick at this point is to get a bigger turbo. You can keep trying to maximize your current turbo by fiddling with the tune, getting bigger injectors, and trying different launch techniques to knock a few more tenths off, but there is nothing left to do other than getting a bigger turbo and going faster at this point. Once Dave stepped up to that 60-1 turbo and yanked that ebay turbo off, with nothing else changed, the engine was a whole new animal. Time for a bigger turbo, that's the only other trick, especially if you have new turbo headers coming your way...
