Supercharger CAM

Looking to get a new CAM for my project. I currently have a TPIS ZZ-9 cam with a Mini-Ram and Vortech R-Trim. I just got a new motor 355 whcih will have Brodix street heads and 700r4 with 3K stall. I need to add some gears, thinking 3.55 or 3.73. What cam are you guys running for your supercharged car?

Re: Supercharger CAM

Latest build will have a TPIS ZZ-9x custom ground w/ wider LSA (114) setup very similar to yours (355, 195TFS, Mini Ram, D1SC)

Yeah I am thinking of just keeping it in the new setup, Just wanted to know if anyone had any other recommendation on what they are using. What convertor will you use or is it stick?

9x!! not a 9, it's a cross breed between a zz409 and a zzx

Re: Supercharger CAM

the more compressor you have, the higher you plan on revving the engine, the tighter your LSA can be. Throw away that inlet charge, waste more fuel, but make more power and rev higher. The restriction to that statement is concerning a smaller exhaust housing. Too much overlap with a very small turbine is a bad idea just like too much overlap with too small of a compressor is a bad idea. Match everything. Big turbo? big exhaust housing? big exhaust plumbing? large intake manifold? big valves? low compression? big ports? Large turbocharger? Engine is good for 8,000rpm? Give me a large duration, with alot of overlap.

example would be a 355cid engine, 220cc runner heads, 8,500rpm solid camshaft 315*duration advertised roller cam 110LSA.
I would want a turbocharger(s) that can flow total about 135lb/min, because:
355x8500/3456*2.1*.069= 126lb/min

We are making 1000rwhp on pump gas now. A small 6x or 8x turbine is not going to give us that nice flat torque curve we desire at 8500rpm.

Re: Supercharger CAM

Good info if talking turbo but he wants a supercharger.... if your goals arent too extreme, then just keep the zz9...its got a good bit of split and will work ok with boost.

Yes I think I will just keep the ZZ9 for now and see how it does. I can change it out later. Thanks
