triple walbro 255s in a stock (modified) tank

Wasn't sure where to post this so i figured id put it here in power adder because the car is turbocharged. I'll be running one pump normally and the other two will be activated via hobbs switch. Should be enough fuel for 1500 hp

Re: triple walbro 255s in a stock (modified) tank

Interesting. Why cut side of tank to mount them rather than use the stock hole but modify that? Could likely have just sumped the tank if you had to cut it.

Whats the setup going to be? I believe mightymouse on ls1tech pushed 1300hp with triple walbros. Should beable to do 1500 if pressures are kept low

Hey man how've you been? How's the car? Ive talked to you before ob other sites lol
Sumping the tank doesn't work to well the location if the muffler. We thought about goung through the factory tank but this way will allow us to keep the factory float/sending unit in tact, plus the factory sump is in the back where we cut the hole. Shiuld be enough fuel for 1500fwhp. The engine/turbo setup is a 402ci forged lq9 with l92 heads 9.3cr t6 pt88turbo 1.08a/r custom 1 3/4 headers 2.5" merge pipe and 4" downpipe. Its blow thru carb for now but fi is in the near future. Id like to see 800rwhp

Re: triple walbro 255s in a stock (modified) tank

nice job , tripple pumps will fit without modifying the tank but its a major pain in the ****.

i did tripple 190lph pumps in mine u have to mount 2 then drop it in the tank then mount the 3rd witht he sending unit halfway in the tank. royalpain in the **** but its doable

and i know ur going to ask why 3x 190lph pumps , it was a temporary fix till i got 2 new areomotive 340lph pumps , i only paid 12 bucks each for brand new 190's

Ah i remember talking about that setup now. It should do it. 88mm will be pushed hard but it could get there.

My setup has had problems this year so i gotta freshen up the shortblock and heads and reassemble. Probably switching efi systems too. Redoing trans converter may add t-brake, etc. long winter lol

Re: triple walbro 255s in a stock (modified) tank

@ project89. I actually didn't think of that haha. We did it this way so we could just do everything to this tank then just swap them. Also my original tank had a sump in it that gave me alot of problems ( kind of a hack job) 190s for 12$ is awesome! My previous setup was an a1000 but it was about 8 years old and wasn't flowing what it should. With this setup i probably won't ever have to mess with fuel pumps ever again!

@orr the 88mm flows 120lbs per min so 800 whp shouldn't be a problem. Similar setups on ls1tech teach my goal at around 15-17 psi.

Re: triple walbro 255s in a stock (modified) tank

No not at all at 800hp, 88 with good wheel should easily do 1000+ just dont know if it will push 1500 hp. I believe the x275 rated 88's with the best billet compressor wheels can do 1500 hp. Your fuel system is overkill for 800 whp

Re: triple walbro 255s in a stock (modified) tank

Yea it is overkill, but here's my logic. 2 255s is good for about 1000 fwhp so at 800whp im right on the edge. So 3 it is plus ill be going e85 in the future

you could of just ran two aeromotive 340lph pumps and you would of been set for 1300hp, i am running two 255lph pumps and it is good for 1100hp.

How much do the aeromotive 340 cost? I paid 70$ each for the 255s. I thought it was cheap considering the aeromotive eliminator i wanted to buy was close to 500.

Very nice looking setup.Should be a screamer ! I like it !!
Great Fab work on the tank / pumps. Are you going to trap door the rear hump to access that fuel tank also?

the aeromotive pumps are 150 each. That is pretty cool setup that you made, guess if you have a ton of power later on you can always run 3 aeromotive pumps and you will be good be for 1800+hp.

Re: triple walbro 255s in a stock (modified) tank

Thanks for the compliments , my brother Manny is behind all the fab work this car. He's got skills for sure! We thought about putting a trap door in but i probably won't. Assuming everything works the way it should, i shouldn't have to upgrade pumps anytime soon.

Ditching $59 too huu?
I've collected parts for going 411 pcm but 4x with single coil and distributor in my lt1.
I just need a vortec distributor
or convert my msd one over for cam signal only.

Re: triple walbro 255s in a stock (modified) tank

I dont want to do it but the chip burning issues i had this year and a wiring glitch in my conversion harness have frustrated me alot and now that the motor has to come out might as well do the swap. My buddy is such a good lsx tuner i can just have him do most of it and be done with it. Just have no idea where to mount coil packs. I have no room whatsoever haha. It likely wont look too pretty

Do you have room back on the firewall? heaterbox area? etc.. Ya you would need custom wires but no better time to get some nice firecore 50 wires.

I may but i want them away from heat as much as possible lol. May go block mount below the heads. Kinda hidden but accessible from underneath

It's been running for over a year now. Just the a1000 fuel pump is shot and couldn't keep up on the dyno. It was going lean and i let out at 5900 rpm. Still mustered 615 rwhp@10 psi
