Paxton Added to my 5.0 tpi

Hi , I just finished completing the install of my Paxton SN 2000 and devils own water meth/injection kit. Picture is before all gear clamps, injection and belt installed. Total install only took about 60hrsI had to fab a lot of parts and I am a little slow

Everything seems to be working fine. No strange noises squeaks, rattles etc. Thanks Ed the SC you sold me seems to be working fine. I haven't measured actual boost at WOT but I can definitely feel a huge difference

I wondering what upgrades I should consider next since money is tight

Right now I have
Stock 305 tpi
Paxton SN2000
Devils Own Meth /Water injection

my upgrades in order of preference
Catback- what size? 3 or 3.5" or true dual- where does O2 sensor - I guess cross pipe is needed
Headers
Larger injectors 27# and inline fuel pump

Any suggestions /comments would be appreciated

Nice but wait...you don't have injectors and a bigger pump yet.

From a hp perspective do you think a tune will give me more hp than catback and headers

The car seems to running well no predetonation, good rpm at idle, etc

What are you using to compensate for boost? Or did you just install the supercharger and meth injection and made no other changes?

It's not about adding horsepower, its about maximizing the horsepower your already making. Peak numbers mean absolutely nothing, you need to properly tune the engine throughout the RPM band, and you need to know where your air/fuel and timing truly is, especially if your running boost...

The engine won't detonate at idle, but it will detonate if your timing is off, and air temps are too high, and there are so many factors regarding this in the tune. But hey, what do I know, don't listen to me, just throw a catback and headers on it and turn up the boost...

Lb9
I have not done anything to compensate for boost other than water/meth injection reduce air temp and increase octane rating
I have a Paxton btd but have not installed

Street letHal I am asking for suggestions/ideas. I am not challenging your ideas but asking questions to get more knowledge. Not sure why your. Response ends with the attitude

Cute, but it's not an attitude, it's more of a been there and done that, and I don't want to see members making the same mistakes all of us did when we all started playing with boost. A tune is very imperative when it comes to any modification being done, especially boosted applications. A modification will effect your rate of acceleration, and when velocity increases, whether from opening the intake side, or even the exhaust side, meaning when the RPM's rise faster, your fueling and timing need to be dialed in accordingly. You did not mention any form of ECM control in your first post, so one can only speculate your either allowing the stock MAF to control a low boost pressure fueling, or you running a supercharged mechanical regulator with varying ratio's...

This is what I was getting at, and there was no attitude on my part...

Re: Paxton Added to my 5.0 tpi

Ok thanks

You are right I am using stock maf and stock ecm. To be be quite honest I have no idea what parameters should be adjusted for the tune. I am a little worried to have my car tuned by someone and potentially makes things worse. If I change the eprom or ecm will the tuner what specific parameters needs to be changed based on my app?

Thanks for your feedback I do appreciate any support I can get

Boost=more air in the engine. Without adding fuel to go with that xtra air it's lean under boost and there goes your engine......
Most commonly used is an FMU. A vacuum line runs to it, it then increases the fuel pressure as boost goes up thereby increasing fuel flow thru the injectors.
Please start reading up on tuning for boost before you go full throttle.
And don't take offense from any posters being blunt.....they're tryin to save you a new engine!

Does anyone know who can provide a good tune in. Southern Ontario?

Also is the EBL P4 and 7730 ECM the best based on experience of everyone on this board ?

Thanks

From your pic there appears to be a MAF installed. See this link in Street Lethal's thread for more info:

Re: Paxton Added to my 5.0 tpi

Also, the Paxtons didn't come with any other supplemental fuel delivery. SN89s, 92s, 93s and 2000s only came with the meth injection. The kits didn't come with a FMU. I have 3 installation manuals, and none of them even mention the fuel delivery. Paxton did have a MSD BTM as an additional cost option. You could also buy The PaxtaMap Fueler, which had a separate computer and 3 fuel injectors that mounted between the throttle body and the plenum.

Re: Paxton Added to my 5.0 tpi

Buy a wideband 02 sensor and check your AFR at WOT before changing anything else.

Clean looking install. I like it a lot.

After that, I would make sure your tune is right and add headers!

Re: Paxton Added to my 5.0 tpi

The intake pipes are 3 in mandrel bend and straights from siliconintakes.com .

Does anybody know anyone who can tune in the Toronto area?? My only other option is a five hour round trip to Buffalo.

Re: Paxton Added to my 5.0 tpi

From what I've heard Champion Motors is the best in Toronto for tuning the 24x (LS1). No idea how well they tune other computers. I spoke to them about how I wanted to turbo my TPI and they suggested a 24x conversion. I also recently spoke to the guys at a new shop in Scarborough, Authentic Performance and they suggested a self learning engine management system from AEM. I'll be getting a baseline on their dyno Friday afternoon if you want to check the place out and hear a stock 5.0 make a little noise. Aside from that no one really tunes TPIs in Toronto.

Re: Paxton Added to my 5.0 tpi

Have you thought about getting the Paxton Installation manual and reading through it? There are a few good things in there about the very things you are asking about. PM me might be able to help with one.
