Advance Adapters SlickFit Headers modded for turbo use?!

I have already moved my battery in my 89 Formula and the air box on the other side to make room for a twin turbo setup. What do you think of these as a turbo header? Switch them from side to side and weld v-band clamps to the end of them. Then I can make up the pipe to the turbos which will be hard mounted behind the headlight buckets. They are not the prettiest things I have seen, but they will be covered with wrap anyway.Any comments good or bad are welcome.

Re: Advance Adapters SlickFit Headers modded for turbo use?!

they sort of look like the old truck manifolds/headers

how much are they
i would cut the angled part off between the front and middle primarys and weld a stright tube in its place if u did this u could mount the turbos up by the valve covers like on my car

also how thick are the flanges and tubing?

I hate to say this but those headers look like junk made from spare cheep exhaust tubing bought from auto zone. I would not trust them to hold pressure or the heat that is created in real turbo headers.

I just found them on Summit at $275. They are 16 gauge mild steel and 1 5/8" tubing. A friend of mine is doing a super low budget build and these could work for his 2nd gen, although he already has his eyes on a set of those $399 OBX stainless up and forward headers.

Lol look like my old ones and new ones mixed. If they angle toward the battery boxes then you can mount the turbos there like i have on my current setup.

Downpipes can fit thru the cylinders 5/7 and 6/8 like mine did too

Only way to really know if to buy them. You can return them back to Summit and get your money back if they don't fit.

At 1 5/8" they won't cover the ports on big heads (AFR210 for example).

you don't really need big ports to make big power with a turbo...

Yes, but if you have big port heads and small headers your exhaust is going to be slamming into a wall.

For guys like me with the AFR210s, 220s, even most off the shelf headers don't cover the ports

Re: Advance Adapters SlickFit Headers modded for turbo use?!

I know this is an older post, but I am doing a twin turbo setup on my formula 350 currently a solid 275hp TPI305 temporary motor till my 357 forged motor is done. I was going to buy this set that dumps the turbos towards the front right next to the serpentine belts, may have to remove the passenger side bracket for the serpentine setup in my 89, but I'll just run a shorter belt and barely get it on, by using a socket and ratcheting the alternator to get the belt on. What kind of manifolds are on this motor? Did they go far to the side of the head, then dumped towards the top? I was going to buy a similar kit for mine. Have you run the car at the track since this setup was finished? I'm very interested, thanks
