Turbo 383

I am curious on what is needed to turbo a 383 stroker carbed crate engine from blueprint engines? Around 420hp. I would want to try and use the internals that they give me with. What turbo setup would work without destroying the internals and leaving it as I bought it? Max psi I could use? Turbo types? Any good kits available? Thanks

Build the motor for boost. Have to know what is inside it

Stay away from hypereutectic pistons - their not boost friendly.

Agreed.

You need to know the ring gap and compression ratio first. These two things are the major things if you don't want to pop a piston.

Build one or buy one for boost.

If you're sticking with a carb CSU is your best bet for a blow throu carb unless you build your own.

Only kits I've ever seen for third gens is CX Racing. I couldn't tell you about the quality. Never seen one installed or heard of one installed. The majority of FI builds here are custom fabbed.

If you want something with a lot less fab, look into a centrifugal supercharger.

They're rated at 10:1 compression, read the commentary on the page;

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mll-bp3834ct1

Q: Was curious about compression ratio of this motor and whether forced induction could be used on this engine

Asked by ROBERT on June 28, 2016

A: Thank you for your question. BluePrint Engines BP3834CT1 is rated at 10:1 compression ratio. These engines are not designed for any type of boost pressure or nitrous use.

Not true, they very well can be depending on design, tune and application.

Even the slightest hint of detonation and it's over.

Unless we're talking about a 300hp martin turbo with a pig rich carb, then maybe it's safe.

Well yeah, avoid detonation...aka good tune and the right combo of parts
