What about fuel systems to control a turbo sbc??

I was wondering what companies make fuel systems, computers, ECU's, ect to control a turbo chevy engine setup. I found one company @ http://www.fasttrackperformance.com and they even have pics of a turbo setup in a 3rd gen and a turbo LT1 on a crate. I also saw pics of some custom sbc intake/exhaust manifolds for a turbo application. Does anyone know any other websites?? I remember I saw a different site that made fuel systems to manage turbo v8's (mostly fords) but I lost the address. do'h. thanks in advance

Accel DFI can be used with 2 bar or 3 bar map sensors.

Dont forget the F.A.S.T. systems.

EFI Systems used to make a piggyback style Programable Managment System (PMS) for GM EFI that had a built in programable learning boost controller for electronic controlled wastegates but they no longer make that system. You may be able to find a used one somewhere though.

alot of people like to do things on the cheap and I usually try to turn them onto other methods or atleast offer other routes of approach to avoid that cobbled together system or missing the mark they were looking for. One thing Ive been milling over being that I have a chassis dyno with a wide band air fuel monitoring sysem, is the price of custom engine management systems of different types. I have done some work with custom chips and some fuel and spark mapping on accel, holley, and felpro computers (AKA speedpro now known as F.A.S.T.). there is a time and place for a custom ECM. say for example you need injectors that are too large for your stock ecm to handle or you are injecting something not formerly injected, or if you have a extremely large and radical engine and camshaft and are unable to control the specific functions you wish and are unable to keep it idling due to a large cam profiles (overlap) and poor vacuum from exotic intake geometry. I have seen very radical combinations running the stock ecm on boosted applications using only a basic FMU and a spark retard. one such application was an LT1 Impalla with a 396 stroker (LT1 block) and a large turbocharger. He went to very large injectors with nothing more than a recalibrated mass air unit and ran the fuel he needed from an FMU and a MSD BTM to retard timing. he made 691 hp to the rear wheels on about 12 psi (surged to 13 psi around the shift point). I made my argument to a rep for a dealer for a major ECM manufacturer (undisclosed). he told me he could make that motor atleast 50 more horses for the price of an ECM system about $1700 my cost and $1850 low commercial purchase price. well my customer bit. this rep sent the stuff out I put it on and he flew out to program it (you probably wont be able to get this treatment) he made 24 more horses all in timing. NONE in fuel. not surprising considering that the A/F ratio graph looked perfect already. by all means run exotic fuel control when you need it. some people will spend alot of money to get a measly few horsepower it seems like a good place to spend it when you need to.

well i would prefer to spend the least ammount of money possible but i was under the impression that an aftermarket fuel system was required for a turbo setup if you want to run high boost and huge injectors? i plan to use a big single turbo, prolly a Garrett T76 ball bearing or maybe even the new T88 H .. not sure yet, push a max 2 bars of boost, and run an electronic boost controller so I can turn the boost down during daily driving. if this is all possible without an aftermarket fuelsystem, please lemme know ... that would save alot of money!!! thanks!

30 LBS on a small block would probably require the fuel be changed to methenol (alcohol) so yes some kind of exotic controller might be in order. I plan to run 9's on less than half that boost on a 415 cid SBCand maybe do it with a stock MAF computer. see https://www.thirdgen.org/rides/index...ew&rideid=3980

yeah i think its like 28 psi or something ... i plan to rebuild the engine (for boost) with low compression 8:1 or 8.5:1 so I can run 87 octane gas and high boost. i need to run an electronic boost controller so I can turn the boost down for daily driving (like 8 or 9 psi) but then pump it up for small bursts. i kinda misworded what i meant ... i want the fuel system to be mapped for a max of 2 bars but i'll admit i'm scared to try anything over 18 psi (BOOM!).

B4Ctom1 (or anybody else), I just desided on which way I want to go with my set-up, it was between a Mini Ram which I know I can use a stock ECU with reprogramed PROM, or a custom Four barrel intake with TB and injectors in the runners. Both with a turbocharged. The custom way I asume would have to use a Custom ECU. Or is it possible that with the right programming I could retain the stock ECU(Switched to speed density). I plan on using TPI fuel rails and Probably a Fo#d 5.0 TB. So the fuel maps would just have to be redone for bigger injectors, and an aftermarket ingiton (MSD) with retard would take care of the turbo timing. I think most other sensors would retain there stock values. Am I on the right track or should I go with a custom ECU?
