What boost are you running?
I want to see what boost people are running on their SBCs to get an idea of what I should aim for. I've done some reading but people's idea of boost ranges quite a bit across different websites.
I have a 350 TBI with vortec heads, 454TB and 80lb injectors, stock bottom end. I'm currently at 7psi of boost with an eBay gt45 turbo, but would like to see if I could go higher. My current goal is to be around 12psi of boost, but I also want a "safe" boost level for a stock motor so that it's still reliable.
So, what have you guys run through your setups?

I did alot of running around with my 305 on 9 psi. I felt like it would live forever there. Its only 280-290 whp my guess. I wouldnt be worried til closer to 400 i guess. But Marty made 755 or so and never hurt a stock 350.
i dont worry about boost levels as long as IAT is kept low

Re: What boost are you running?
I don't have an intercooler right now and am not sure if I plan on adding one. The way my turbo is set up now, it would be pretty difficult to get an intercooler in there. It would definitely require a bit of cutting on the core support to get pipes in and around.
I need to find a good gasket for the carb hat. I knew it would be an issue, but that gasket keeps wanting to blow out. They probably make a metal fiber one or something for carbd vehicles that should work fine, I just need to do a search for it.

Ran 10-11psi on a l98 350 bottom end with a scat crank. Ported heads, l98 cam 1.6 rockers, ported xcelerator intake. 750 demon blow through carb. Vortech v3 supercharger. Took out the ringlands and skirts on 3 pistons after about 1000miles. Probably due to very variable fuel mixture from day to day by the carb... was good one day, lean the next, fat after that.
Bought a new forged 383 bottom end from atk, brodix ik200 heads and a xr282hr cam. Holley sniper efi. Same blower with different pulleys makes around 6psi now. Made 330whp on the dyno at 5500rpm blowing off my 3" exhaust due to restriction. Taking off the exhaust and airfilter it made 440whp at the same rpm, all untuned..
My friend has a twin turbo 350sbc in a camaro, he has blown some engines, but the current one has lived for a while at around 18psi. Using water/meth really helped him
Having a good tune and low iat is the key to making it live

Re: What boost are you running?
I’ve been running 17 psi for the last 3 years with my all stock cast bottom end 350. I run it on a road course running WOT for 15 seconds straight too. Ran 12psi on 91 and then switched to E85 and kept going up. My turbo doesn’t seem to make any more power if I keep going up so I stopped. Haven’t dyno’d in a long time, only trapping 125 in the 1/4. Weighs 3900 with me in it. I used to trap 122 on just 9 psi with a blow through carb and 10 bolt. Timing is around 27 degrees at full boost. Never even replaced a spark plug in 3 yrs, oil pressure is mint, I spin it to 6k.
