Bigger-HP fuel systems

TGO,

What are people using in 2026 for fuel systems on bigger-HP applications?

Seems to be a lack of out of the box options for third gens, on both pump assemblies and lines.

Best thing I've come up with is swapping to a later LS tank, using a dual pump hanger, and bending 1/2" lines for the tank to the front subframe myself.

Any. other options out there? What are people running for fuel filters?

Re: Bigger-HP fuel systems

Plastic 4th gen tank has an opening large enough to wiggle in triple 255/340’s or dual 450-510’s or whatever the big e85 walbros are these days.
some aftermarket sending units for them ive seen. Should be good for 1500+ on gas and maybe 1000-1200 on ethanol depending on pressure and such.

you definitely need larger outlet than stock 3/8 line, as that only seems to support 1100 whp on gas. So you need to drill top for a bulk head fitting. Run 2 pumps thru one outlet and another thru the stock and y together in a -8 an. Or you can try a single -8 bulk head out.

anything much over 1200 on ethanol id just get a crank mandrel to run a belt drive up front with surge tank or rear cable driven mechanical. Yeah there are some big capacity external electronic pumps but they are expensive and have mixed reviews on performance and life

I think it depends on what you call big power. 6an line w an aeromotive stealth tank/pump combo is good up to 700hp. This is what I'm using to feed my blower setup. If you want 8-900 hp or more go w 8/10an line.

Re: Bigger-HP fuel systems

Engine is in assembly now, so I don't know what it will make. But combo is 400cid, 220 AFRs (around 300cfm peak), and D1SC at around 15psi. Maybe up to 18-20. On E85.

I saw the Aeromotive, but it's only set up for one pump and the outlet is only -6AN.

The tank is already sumped, so have options to do either in-tank or external, but I'd heard the same things about reliability.

Re: Bigger-HP fuel systems

The most ive seen out of a d1 is around 800 whp but that was in a vette manual trans. Had a pretty stout 383 make 530’s in a manual trans on low 9 psi so theres potential.

i think we ran out of fuel on a na 416 ls3 that made 520 ish whp in a 6 spd on e85 with a single 340lph.
dual walbro 450 would be fine for 800 and you could get them to fit but the bell mouth bottoms of those pumps make it more difficult. Dual 340’s would fit in the 4th gen bucket with some cuts. Roughly 2.5 gpm of flow it might do it. Esp with a hot wire kit for max volts. Id have to run the numbers.

Re: Bigger-HP fuel systems

Thanks.

Last engine made 580whp on a 450, and still seemed to have headroom. Figured it wouldn't cut it for the new setup though.

And good to know. Already have the hotwire set up, but thinking I'd have to run one for each pump.

Re: Bigger-HP fuel systems

This also looks like a good option for the newer fourth gen tanks.

Re: Bigger-HP fuel systems

Sumped stock metal tank, any high GPH external pump and line size you want. I ran a Dual holley external billet pump (basically 1300hp worth of fuel) which is like two 340s in a billet housing for a hot min with a sumped stock tank. It was way overkill for my centri supercharged 5.3. I wanted to run stock routed exhaust and the sump pushes the exhaust down so I picked up another stock tank and just run a single walbro 450 now on pump gas but its around 700hp on pump gas. I would say two walbro 450s will get you way up there even with E85.
