Vortech Discharge peice

Hey!

Anyone else with a Vortech + TPI have trouble with the discharge peice (that goes in the throttle body ---> superchager).

Seems like either it or the superchager is just a hair (1/4 inch actually) too long..

Judging by most of the stuff that came in this kit, It doesn't appear vortech put much development time into our cars, so I thought I'd ask..

This problem has happened to all of us Vortech users. You will need to cut that excess off. Just one of the things you have to do with the setup. Check this out, you are not the only one who has had this problem. http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...eature01ex.jsp This is an article of a fellow board member's car, equiped with a Vortech. It has a small writeup about the discharge tube. What compressor are you running(s-trim, t-trim)? That setup sounds very similar to mine when I was running mid 11's. Sounds like it is going to be one hell of a ride

Hey man,

Thanks for the link!. I was kinda thinking that but, it wouldn't be the first time I bolted something up completly wrong. Us engineers and enept from reading documentation..

Its an A-trim, so its only like 5-6lbs of boost.. But, its _new_ believbe it or not overstock, all in original packaging from a race shop that does only mazda stuff. He bought it like 5 years ago for a customer who never picked it up, been on the shelf since. Paid 1500.00 which I thought was very reasonable for something new.

Anyway, thanks again man!! I appreciate it..

If you have the stock TPI intake, You should not have a problem with it fitting. Try to rotate the housing to tweek it in.

I had a small problem with my mini ram intake but I thought it was because of the intake only. I didnt realize it was a problem for all TPI cars. :lala:

Loosen the 5, or is it 6, bolts, I think they are allen heads, on the compressor housing. You need to remove the supercharger from the car to do this. You can rotate the housing 360 degrees.

But it worked, thanks..

Damn this a-trim is noisy . It whines at an idle, but seems to go away when you give it some throttle.. I hope its normal and not a lubrication problem.

Yeah thats what mine soundeds like and my S-trim sounds like now. I am thinking upgrading to an SQ S-trim, much quieter.
