Nitrous a death sentence to motor ?

Just wondering what everyone thinks about using nitrous oxide on their car. I have heard some guys say that it'll be fine as long as you are smart about how much you use and everything is running right to go with it, while others say that it is bad news for a motor and will eventually lead to its destruction. So what do you all think? Nitrous only on a finely tuned, forged, heavy duty race engine that can be replaced or rebuilt easily or doesn't matter if something blows up....or safe to use on stock or almost stock engine if you are smart about it?

If your fuel and ignition systems are beefed up and you use a window switch a stock motor can last a long long time.

IT will eventually lead to early death, of THAT there is NO DOUBT, but how early? thats the tricky part. YES a stock engine with nitrous can last long, but it would have lasted LONGER without the juice. Hell, Drag racing removes life from an engine. every time your engine sees 6000 RPMS it takes a little of that life away. Driving your car Stock, and never going above 2000 RPMS can even lead to problems, eventually.

remember, driving will eventually kill a motor. Also I have read several times that doubling the horsepower of a 200 to 250 hp motor only increases internal stresses by roughly 30%. incredible as it sounds it seems to make sense to me but I will let you math and metalurgy experts argue the truths and parameters on that one among yourselves because I believe it even if I am gullable.

Why does that make sense to you? I heard just increasing the rpm by a 1000 puts over twice the load on internal componets. I guess it depends on how you make the power. I really doubt that doubling the power will only increase it 30 percent.

As if this isn't a loaded question.

Driving a car will lead to death of all the parts eventually.

Anything that tries to force more power through the parts will wear them faster.

You have to decide what the right ratio of lifespan, power and $$$ spent on parts is for you. The more power you want the sorter things will live and/or the more they will cost.

Specific to N2O, unless you screw up, where you'll see the additional wear is in the bearings. If you screw up you'll see it in missing piston parts, new ways of seeing the inside of the motor and internal parts not being internal anymore.
