ATI Procharger Q's

I got a Procharger catalog about a year ago and I am just now seriously looking into a power adder, and their numbers seem kind of high. So this is what I'm thinking, my car make about 320fwhp now and with AFR heads, LTI intake, cam, 58mm TB, and headers I think I would be looking at atleast 420fwhp. The ATI book says "you can take almost 2 seconds of your et!" they also say they have "put completely stock L98 F-body's into the 11's, and can easily take TPI's into the 10's with minimal engine modifications", has anyone seen this done or done it themselves? ATI says their P-1SC with 12psi will give you an 80% gain, which equates to over 750hp on my N/A 420hp engine. This seems really high, what do you guys think? Does anyone have dyno #'s or time slips before and after there SC?

Patience......

Normally aspirated on a 305 built for a supercharger:
14.06 @ 98.00

After D1SC (10-psig) but needing fuel/spark curve mapping (EPROM) calibrations:
12.05 @ 116.62

Thats an incredible gain, what compression are you running? I'm running 9.5:1, do you think I could run 12 psi? Is your ATI really loud and anoying or not that bad?

12 would be too much for your app... I wouldnt go over 9, 6 would be the safest. Especially on a stock bottom end. Im sure ***** could shed more light on this than I can!

9.2 : 1

I'm running 9.5:1, do you think I could run 12 psi?

Possibly, but I would ease into it gradually. That's what I did. I started at 8 psig while recording data. Once I knew all scanner data looked good, I bumped up to 10 psig and repeated the process.

Another important point is the fact that I use an intercooler AND water/alcohol injection -- please see the other current thread on this subject. These "add-ons" along with aluminum heads greatly decrease the in-cylinder temps. I'm sure I could run even more boost given these facts.

Is your ATI really loud and anoying or not that bad?

ATI rated my blower at 96dB. It produces a very obvious whine at idle (quite cool) but quietens somewhat as you increase vehicle speed. This may be in part to other noises, such as exhaust, wind, etc.

What do you mean stock bottom end, I have a 383 stroker with forged internals and 6" rods. What is water/alcohol injection, I have heard of it but I'm not sume what it is or does? Thanks

Water/alcohol injection uses shoots a fine mist of water and/or alcohol into the intake tract to cool the air. Alcohol also has a high octane rating so it helps reduce detonation. With forged internals 12 psi intercooled should be no big deal as long as you get mixture and timing dialed in right. There is also some debate about the merits of propane injection, which shoots propane into the air stream. This is more popular with the import boys right now, and started with diesels.
Here's a coupla links that should help you out.

Thanks for explaining water/alcohol injection rhuarc30.

Those percentage gains are on a STOCK motor

you would not see that high of a gain on a nice n/a motor like yours because your motor is already VERY efficient

you take an inefficient STOCK motor and add a lot of boost and you'll get a lot of hp from it

take your efficient n/a motor and add a bunch of boost and you will see less

see what i'm saying?
