DIY board?

too many posts have i went through here that ask the question like this. i know that this is a tech site and most of all of this stuff is do it yourself but this board will have things like...

whiteface guages
dash swaps
fabrications
do it yourself ram air mod
etc.
just in general a place to show things that you or others have done to their thirdgen themself to make it look/run better.

Someone suggested a fabrication board a week ago or so, many people liked the idea. Problem is that many people will use it as a place for "unpaid advertising" I imagine...

yea i remember the fabrication board, but this doesnt have to be pure fabrication maybe like things that users have done to improve their car. even a place to post "wannabe" tech articles. i was thinking this could be the place that users would say rather then abruptly screaming SEARCH to the new guys tell them to try the DIY board.

whiteface guages - B/I board
dash swaps - B/I board
fabrications - Depends on what board you're on
do it yourself ram air mod - TPI
just in general a place to show things that you or others have done to their thirdgen themself to make it look/run better. - Search or ask questions on the appropriate board.

Makes sense to me. I can just imagine how a board with any topic of fabrication would go and how many people would be told to search.

Yes i know that you cna post them in other boards but then when someone goes to do a search they get many seperate different useless pages. if there was a distint board for it it would drastically narrow their searches down. like i said it can be posted other places but how many times have you heard the same question on the same board 3-7 times a month?

Then we'll have that on that board and the corresponding boards. It would be like it was when there was only a Tech Board, (now Tech/General Engine) which is why they all got specific categories after a while.

if you like the DYI or frabication board idea write the admins at webmaster@thirdgen.org and let them know there is intrest in it. i believe there are a lot of related topics that don't really fit any of the presant boards. for example, i have had a bench top size press for years. last week i finially built a full size one. i know it isn't rocket science but i may have some knowledge gained from doing it as well as a break down of cost.

Maybe it could be a good idea. It can always be a trial board to see how it works out.

I only suggest such a thing because there are so many repeated questions or questions to ask how to do something. and maybe it could be a DYI section splitinto parts....

I've wanted to suggest this idea for a while, too. I always wondered why the "Tech Article" section wasn't its own board. I think it's a great idea. I've found, at least with the headliner repair tech article, that it could use some updating or comments from other users regarding their experience with the article. This would be a great board. DIY, tech articles, and fabrication would all be included. Go for it!
