When I try to log on to the chat server, it tells me I am not welcome and my IP is banned... It gives an email to contact with questions, but my emails get bounced. Is it me or is the chat just not working? I haven't been active on the board in a few months...

 

Are you on AOL? When 1 IP gets banned the whole community that is on the same aol server is banned as well. Then again the chat room may be down, ive never gone in there.

Heh, I went there and got banned for supposedly "cloning tpi_roc" ...whata stupid bot and silly irc server.

 

Maybe it's just not working... Maybe it's me. Don't know why I'd be banned. Unless it doesn't like Comcast...

I got one thing to say, "qwitcha bichin". I got banned today and I deserved it. I cut and pasted something into chat which was too large. that constitutes spamming. chat has a set of strict rules to prevent it from turing into a yahoo/aol ' esque swimming pool of retardation. if you break them, even a little bit, the mod can ban you. I have never seen anyone instantly banned. Logs of banned offenders are made. usually a person is "kicked" or "booted" from chat for infractions with a warning based on his or her infraction. The recorded result of this "kick" is usually the offender rejoining and harrassing the mods or other member of chat with a tirade of obscenities. This is what causes a ban or "K-line". So remember, when you try to say "oh noes, I got banned for no reason I wasnt doin nuttin" there is a log record of it by one or more of the chatting persons in the room.

If a person just thinks that chat is a great place to pop in to ask a question, you can't get mad when it is assumed automatically that you are too lazy to either register and/or make a post, or do a search. Chat is a place to stay current, meet buds for BS'n, converse about new developments and share technical information on a "give and take" basis. It is not for, "how do I make a VATS car start when the security light is flashing?" chat. No member that enters ever shows up to "chat" they show up to ask a question that has been covered by at least half a dozen and as many as hunreds of posts. I have never seen a question in chat that I couldn't answer with a link to a TGO thread. When you don't respond to this newly joined "questioner" they usually erupt into an attack of retarded misbehavior that gets them kicked out.

This site has a huge amount of information. It uses massive resources of server, bandwidth, and maintainance. There are 34,548 members making 262,007 threads containing 2,052,711 posts! In the whole time I have ever visited chat I have never once seen a question that was new and never asked before, not once. That is a slap in the face to the people that keep the forums running, current, and who actually post there.

PS when the server is reset each time, the bans are erased.

 

Umm, never mind. I don't want to admit that I went anywhere near the chat program...
