Posting doesn't bring it to the top

Sometimes when I reply to a post, the post shows up, but it isn't moved up on the list of threads. After I post, it doesn't take me back to the post. It says invalid thread specified (or something similar). Just wondering whats up w/ that.

It happens all the time to me. It will post but only after it gives you a "page cannot be displayed". it also will not count your post or udate the number of replies or veiws on the thread. I usually just delete my post and re type it in so that the user gets the proper notification of a reply.

The number of views isn't updated "live" on this forum, so that isn't a bug.

It was found that mysql having to read/write lock the table to write (update) the post view counters so often (every time a user clicked to read a post) that it could cause server load issues under certain conditions because during that time, the table can't be used, so processes start to collect. It's called table locking. To help prevent this, usually, the view counts are temporarily stored in a different table then the data is moved into the original table all at once under certain ideal conditions.

Just saying that is not a bug, but a feature to help keep the server load down.

I should have added that I meant I haven't seen the issue outside of these forums, or really heard of this. Of course I just could have missed it. I never really looked into it, or came across it. Something like this, only Dirk would probably be able to determine.

Ditto. I have gotten into a habit of copying my post into MS word if it is to long so that I won't have to re-type it if it doesn't go through. I learn to deal with it.
