I am a 22 years old lady now, i was born on the 1of january 1984.to the family of Mr dikko. and My father name is John dikko he is a very wealthy gold and cocoa merchant who based in ACCRA and ABIDJAN respectively, and my mothers name is Sheila.and I am there only child.well when i was a kid i went to a private schools and things were going on well for me and my parents till when i was in high school when my mother died on the 21ST october 1994 , My father took me so special because i am motherless. and he shower all his love on me and promised me that he will never have another woman because he did not want me for any problem.but has fate his my father got dead last year.but before the death of my father on the 12th December 2005 in a private hospital here in Abidjan , he called me secretly to his bed side and told me that he kept a sumof $10.500 000 (ten million five hundred thousand united states dollars) in a bank in Abidjan Cote D'ivoire. meanwhile that he used my name as the next of kin in deposit of the fund.He also explained to me that it was because of this money he was poisoned by his business partner and that i should seek for foreign partner in a country of my choice where i would transfer this money and use it for investment purpose, such as;real estate investment or stock market investment.
Plesae, i am honourably soliciting your kind assistance as follows.

1) To provide a bank account where this money will be transfered into.

2) To serve as the guardian of these fund ,since i am 22years old.

3)To make arrangement for me in your country to continue my educational career and to procure me a residential permit in your country.

I am inclined to offer you 15% of the total sum as a mode of compensation for your effort after the successful transfering of these fund to your nominated account overseas.Please i will be very happy if this transaction will be concluded with in seven (7) working days from now.I am expecting to hear from you as soon as possible

If I were you, I'd open a student bank account (no minimum deposit) with $1, and tell her to transfer the money. Then, when the scammer tries to take your cash, he'll be like, WTF?

But that's just my opinion!

I think the student bank account is too much work for something you will get NOTHING out of... ban the IP addy and all is good...

 

That's the Nigerian Bank Scam. It's been around for years. Even if you have NO MONEY in the account and it does not permit any overdraft; two things can still happen.

1) You will be stuck with a nasty "overdraft" fee by the bank.

2) As this is similar to writing a bad check, it affects your credit rating...which will stick with you anywhere from 7-14 years depending on your state/province you reside.

There is also a more dangerous variation where they actually provide you with a cashiers check and ask you to deposit it for them. The bank will hold it and after a period of time, they will clear it and remove the hold on the funds.

Then they take most of the money; and then a couple of months later, the bank says "that was a stolen cashier check and it's been dishonored"...and now you are stuck having to repay the funds for the cashier's check.

Moral of the story...do not even think about trying to play with these people. They can do a lot more damage to you than you can to them.

And yes, it is best to leave this post open in case others receive a similar e-mail or PM. If you check the archives, you will find a post on this topic every few months. This is probably the 10th that's been reported that I've seen in the last few years at TGO.

You would think that they would try and use more convincing english in this letter...

 

Most of these banking scams originate from Eastern Europe or Russia. Locally, we have been having some problems with Russian Mafia that scam your bank/credit cards and pin numbers.

Maybe it would have been better had the Berlin Wall not come down and the Cold War not ended.

 

the crappy english does help to verify their bogus story that they're foreigners
