I suggest someone IMPORTANT run the chat from now on. Tpi_roc, or whoever he is has no business being in that position. My 5 year old kids acts more matture than he does. The chat room is nothing more than immature college kids who insult inoccent people who are looking for serious help. The language and stuff they talk about is TOTALLY offensive. The topics of sex, porno, and beer just amazes me. I would just like to state that if you want to have a respectable site about cars, and only about cars, you get someone with the common respect to learn to grow up. Inwo also is another one who is constantly being stupid. I would just like to say, I will never go to the chat room again. If there is ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about cars, go to the boards. The chat room is a total joke. They don't even talk about cars half the time and the langauge is unbeiveable. Someday you guys will grow up and relize that there are people WHO know more than you and want serious help. Not smart answers and perverted comments.

I would please like to know of anyone who has been affected by this so we can get some respectable people on the chat room.

JMB, F41, and others I have forgotten...... There has always been a chatroom here. It wasn't moderated and things grew out of control in there with the bickering and what not. TPI_ROC by virtue of his 3rd gen knowledge, computer knowledge and the fact he volunteered for the position is why he *WAS* the moderator of the chat. He was able to be at a computer either at home or work.
That has now ended, and I feel that the chat will again go downhill. It may not be you directly, but think about it. You are not the first person to chat there. There are trolls that have nothing better to do but to mess with other peoples boards.
Now again, this may not be you, but the multitudes of idiots I have seen come in there is phenomenal..... then there is the people that just won't let you help them. That keep passing out bad information. You have to draw the line somewhere. I will not point fingers at either party. I try to help everyone, but I have asked roc to kick or ban cetain parties that I felt were out of line with the purpose of the chat.
Now with the way Inwo and TPI_ROC act at times.... yes it is inappropriate. But I went thru the same stuff when I first started chatting with them. Seriously, it is all in good fun IMHO. If that is all that bothered you... then grow some thicker skin! Its just words typed on a screen! Laugh at it. It won't hurt a bit I promise.
They also know what they are talking about. When they don't know, they will tell you so. No one knows it all. A lot of what gets asked in the chat can be answered by doing a simple search really. It is hard to diagnose a problem listening to some peoples descriptions. Mechanics don't do work over the phone do they?
I hope this ads some insight as to what has been going on. If it doesn't, then do away with the whole thing. I personnally think there needs to be a moderator in there like we have moderators for the boards. Thats all........

 

Observing the events a few months ago with various AOLers who took it upon themselves DAILY to come in the channel spamming and making rude comments about everyone in the channel, certain board members who would come in the channel just to cause disruptions (you know who you are) or guests who come in with the generic TGOGuest nickname then ask questions totally shooting down all the answers you give them it does tend to jade regulars. Guests get the rep of being totally know nothings, or they change their nick to something vaguely offensive just to annoy the moderator. So what's the mod do? He gets annoyed. Mod getting annoyed leads to a warning then a kick. Pretty simple no? Perhaps people should instead pick a nickname that they use on the board? Perhaps they should talk tech or ask their question instead of coming in and just talking crap? Better idea, instead of getting all sad when someone says something you don't like and storming off you try to talk reasonably with them? Bet ya'll never thought of that. I've been watching the unfolding events lately and all this flaming has gotten on tpi_roc's nerves for good reason. He spends hours and hours keeping the chat sane, but people go out of their way to ruin it for others. Sure you might say it's us, but did you look at yourself first?

If you were banned due to using AOL it's because whether you like it or not your choice of ISP is Filled with spammers, retards and jerks. People who come in the channel for the sole purpose of being disruptive. It's sad but true. For a full week during January we were harrassed by several AOLers who would get banned then simply reconnect to their service and come right back and continue their vicious ways. So it was stopped. The channel was much more peaceful. Now the ban is lifted, and chaos shall reign. I hope you guys will be happy turning #thirdgen into the AOL TeenChat room. A/S/L NE1??

 

Thank you. At least we aggree there is a problem with Tpi_roc and Inwo. As far as I'm concerned, I'm over with. We made our point. You won't see me in there anymore. Not worth my time or energy. And don't blame it on the AOL users. You are the ones 95% of the time with the obsene language and immature comments. I may speak for myself when I say this, Tpi_roc and Inwo, you've lost your credibility. I'm thankful others aggree that there is a problem that needs to be fixed. I don't know about everyone else but I want a site that looks good 100% good and respectable in everyway. That's just how I picture it. a couple of people shouldn't ruin it for everyone. And of those of you who say, "Well then just don't go to the chat room" I won't anymore. But Jaysz28, Darcom, Vader, ed, engineboy etc.. Keep on making it good. Your work is appriciated.

Vader was kind enouph to delete the post in General/Tech engine. I don't know how it got here though. We can be arguing back all year on this topic but the only next step is to fix it and not let this happen again. And that starts with two people. Tpi_roc and Inwo, you are good people, I know you are. You also know a lot about cars I'm sure of it. I didn't write this to make enemies but for some kind critism (however "kind" it was). I just think we all need this fixed and act like the adults that we are.

It's not their "right" at all to chat. There's no GBS board for a reason, you can GBS in the chat room, unless you're a DrUgZ R KeWl retard who would not be welcome even on the CZ28.com board (the den of idiocy that it is) I suggest that until you know how it feels to be a mod you keep your broad assumptions in check. If I may remind you of a certian person named FTA84 and his friend FRANK who caused havoc in our chat and the chat of www.lastgen.com for over 2 months due to the lack of anyone with the computer skills to stop them. FTA84 was a respectable member of this website for some time and then decided that being an ******* was more fun.

My hats off to TTA, Dirk and tpi_roc for stopping the madness.

You know, I see all these people bashing roc, and I will admit, hes no angel, thats for sure....but if you saw the room on tuesday night, with all the trolls bashing peoples mothers, girlfriends and the like, totally useless and uncalled for conversation (if you could call it that),....it just pissed me off.

To put it simple, the room sucked tonight, peroid.

Roc came in and put an end to all the chaos.

Do I think he was a hero...no, do I think he did his job, yes.

Do I think he steps out of line sometimes...yes, but I do to, just as all of us do.

I come to this room for info, some good conversation about whatever, and sometimes a good ribbing does the trick.

My point was not to get rid of the chat room or get him kicked off or him to quit (however I may have made it sound). I know Tpi_roc can do an excellent job in the chat room. He's proven that. It just bothered me to see him kicking people off for THE EXACT SAME THING HE WAS DOING in the first place. The obsene comments and language. If a person is being out of line and using obsene language, warn them, then boot em' if they don't stop. But when you are the person doing it too, you lose your authority and in my eyes, respect. It just bothered me to see The people who were in charge being AT TIMES worse then the people being kicked off. Roc, you were given a high job with the chat room. I know you can do a good job. You already have. I know you're a good person. You've proven that when I've talked to you in the chat room today. You're a good respectful guy. I konw you'll be fair and respectful. I know when I was working on my bird I wanted to know where seomthing was. I got answer right then and there, went out to my car, and fixed it. So, I mean. Sure, chat. But if someone wants help, help them. Don't give smart comments. Espically from the people in charge, then kick them off because you won't help them and they keep on being annoying becuase you choose not to help them and they keep "nagging". people have different personalities and if they're being totally rude, warm then then kick thier butt out. I think there should be rules posted before you log in in the chat room. YOu know, STRICT guidlines for the chat room. A B C. If you do this wrong, You're out. No just because you feel like it. That's just unfair for everyone (of course, not the person incharge). I don't even use bad language or offensive comments. I just want help on my car. You didn't help me, I got kicked off many times. Why? Because I'm annoying? Persistant?. You should be flattered I'm asking you for help. I wouldn't be asking you if I didn't think you knew more than I did.
