What is stronger, a built 10 bolt, or a Aussie 9 bolt?

Hey, I want to know what is gonna be stonger.

A 10 bolt with a T/A cover, and an Auburn Pro Series Differential, and a good set of 3.73's

OR

a 9 bolt Aussie Rear with SLP 3.70 gears? (Not to be confused with a 9 inch)

I know the 9 bolt is stronger, but I wasn't sure if the 10 bolt with that other stuff would be just as strong or stronger.

This is gonna be used on an automatic car that should be running mid 11's or faster on juice.

Let me know, I need the strongest unit untill I can afford a 12 bolt.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi,I am partial to the 10 bolt just because the parts are easier to find and alot cheaper. The T/A cover is good but I prefer the Zexel Torsen HD unit over the auburn pro, weld your axle tubes all of the way around and if you have the money, get some alloy 28 spline axles.Read my article in the tech section,"Beefing the 7.625" 10 bolt", also read Daniel Burk's rearend article.Lots of good advice in them.

Cool, thanks!

Anyone else have any advice? I currently own one of each and I'm trying to decide which to use.

The article on beefing up the 10-bolt is in the tech articles section of this website.

I would say the 9-bolt is better, because it doesnt use c-clips. NHRA rules say you cannot use a c-clip axle if you're running 11's, or is it 10's... ? But most people switch to a Ford 9" by that time.

The 9bolt should last for awhile as long as you dont plan to leave with some serious 60fts.

Mine held up under probably 150 1.6X 60fts.
