Re: #19, 1991 R7U Players Challenge Camaro
That's a tempting look for street-driving my '86. Yes, I like that enough to copy it. Except the wheels, and where that cage is attached, the only 2 cage-mounting-bolts visible in that pic. There's nothing under there, unless they added a plate. Even so, I'd copy the cage that was optional in the '92 Firehawk, because that attached over the rear springs.

Very nice. Thanks for posting. I love looking at these cars because they are each unique. Interesting that this car does not have an air bag, and does have power windows.

all r7u's were full power optioned so the resale value would be high for the racers.

This car features the race prom with the airbag bypassed so they opted to remove it. Was common practice in the series

Re: #19, 1991 R7U Players Challenge Camaro
anyone know how I can put this car to be picked for Car of the month for the site? I'm on my phone and couldn't find any info...
Re: #19, 1991 R7U Players Challenge Camaro
Car of the month is voted by participants each month. Each month the Editor selects a theme. You can't nominate your own car. This month is an open theme: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/auto...omination.html
Its purpose is to help showcase nice ThirdGens in the community that might not be seen and to also allow some member participation.
Your Camaro is absolutely a good example for the Car of the month or some other form of mention.

So the yellow paint on the engine bolts must be the form of a 'seal.'

Why does it have Competition Chev Olds decals on it? Did dealers sponsor each car?

Re: #19, 1991 R7U Players Challenge Camaro
each car had it own sponsors. The series was a Players Cigarette Series and then each driver got their own sponsors. All west coast cars were sponsored by Mohawk and all East coast ones were sponsored by Sunoco.
#19 was driven by Cameron Hope. He was a lawyer at the firm listed on the car. Competition Chev olds had 4 cars run under their name. There were dozens of other decals all over the place.
Only mandatory decal locations were Players, Mohawk/sunoco, GM Parts to go. I believe at least.

Nice looking car!
I think it's strange that Chevy put in a 305 and not a 350. I wonder what the reasoning behind that was?

Re: #19, 1991 R7U Players Challenge Camaro
In a box somewhere, I still have some of the #19 decals that were used on that car over it's life. And I think I have the original R7U struts (well used) that came with it. Many for the front runners swapped over parts like engines, struts and of course brakes to keep their edge.
Beautiful car.

Wow. Just wow. That Camaro is absolutely stunning.
I have never liked Camaros (but love Firebirds, which has never made sense to me logically), but I have to say, your car is beautiful beyond words.

What a fantastic car... I love the Yellow and Black wheels... nice details they did... Of course you would have a harder time getting them mixed up when racing....

Re: #19, 1991 R7U Players Challenge Camaro
never was for sale. Was suppose to be returned at the end of the season ... except in 1991 and 1992 where they could keep them and continue racing in other events.
I'm doubtful the prom will meet emisssions ... I'd have to check it and see. but I think they adjusted it for less EGR and such. Plus ran a bit rich in the higher RPM's to keep the engine safe.
