Has anyone customized a TA spoiler? I'd like to make the back have more of a lip like the early 90's foxes.
Something like this:
There's a version of this wing already available. One is for sale in the classifieds on this forum. It was a unique wing that looked just like the mustang one in the pic. Not a wrap around but it was a mix of the basemodel wing and the wrap around.
Well not the same after seeing a pic. Here's the classified thread. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exterior-parts-sale/729619-85-90-trans-am.html
Dont think it would look good but down to see you try.
Might be nice to use a camaro high rise and then taper that down like the wrap around hood. I run the camaro high rise on my 87 firebird. It would be easier than fabbing a whole one. Or make a mold of the OEM wrap around and add an inch or 2 to the mounting bases. I just chucked a copy I made of the wrap around, basically layed fiberglass over the OEM wing and then filled it in and mated to the 2 halves together. Turned out ok...but if you do it in half then you can add more to it to make it taller.
I know the arguments for and against. I went for it, and don't regret it.
Above 120 mph, the lip is useful. Under, too much drag for normal driving. I am considering both for track days.
You missed it. Go back and look at the TA in my third post. It has an upward lip on it. "Whale tail so to speak."

No, I didn't miss it. Probably didn't explain very well.
I want(ed) to add the lip. But the cost of drag for normal driving convinced me otherwise. I run #250 springs in back. I probably will find a damaged wing, and add the lip for use at track days when I get around to it. I won't care about paint matching for a track affair - flat black, maybe. I thought about it here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...ml#post5187258
I was just showing how good the 4th Gen wing can look - IMHO.

That's a standard 4th gen wing, not a Mecham wing, isn't it?
Yes, standard 4th Wing. I fitted it really well, IMHO. I thought about cutting it open, adding some shaped styrofoam, then fiberglassing over to acheive the Mecham look. I still am happy with what I have.
this wing looks great on your car.you did an incredible job imo.i added this wing to my car to be a little different.
some people complain about it or dislike it but do not seem do have enough of a memory to understand the wing
that was on the original 1969 trans am.i know the current wing isn't identical to the 69 wing but its close enough
to please me and be different.im throwing around the idea of some tyrol blue stripes and possible tyrol blue
cross lace rims as well.i like the idea of a tip of the hat or tribute to the 1969 trans am.
