Hi zs&tas,
They checked the ECM, and said it is okay. And the fuel pump circuit is turning on. And the pump is priming. Getting 40PSI at the fuel rail when running, 45PSI when primed.

they are resetting the codes, then testing again. Gotta wait until morning.

Sounds like everythings good but its throwing a code. The oil pressure switch needs to be checked too, other than that a bad conection somewhere ? If it wasnt throwing that code id be looking at other stuff for the horrid millage .

Re: What did you do to your v6 today ?

I think one big culprit is the exhaust. The other day I found the down pipe loose, about 1/2 inch gap between the exhaust manifold and the down pipe. Big air leak, possibly throwing off the O2 sensor readout. Loud too.

Re: What did you do to your v6 today ?

Well, ECM and fuel pump tested out great. New code is 14 (I think) O2 sensor error. So I need to fix the exhaust downpipe. One side is loose with a BIG air gap, the other side is held together with a muffler clamp. Yes, a muffler clamp! Will I ever be done fixing all the sh*tty half-azzed "fixes" this kid did?

Still working on the front suspension and steering. It's all worn out, so I am replacing it all. Took me one month to do one front control arm. Hopefully the other one goes faster!

only issue that has poped up is i have a missfire at idle , but i belive its just the egr leaking so ill look into that today

turbo goes on after i find out whats causing the missfire , the missfire is only there below 900 rpms

I did something less positive with my v6 today. Found a damn gasket spraying coolant I think. Not the water pump, but behind that I assume is the timing cover? It's spraying between the block and the timing cover. FML

well i found out its nly missfiring once the engine gets hot ( normal op temp ) which seems odd to me , maybe a failing coil pack? or would it be the coil pack base plate which is also the moudle iirc

Well last week my heater valve went out after only a year and a half so i went and bought another. took my car from memphis to mid illinois and back and next morning heater valve was leaking so i went and exchanged it and bought new heater hose and replaced the 3 hoses attached to it. After this i started the car to a horrible squeel, and thought...crap it's the barrings in the water pump i just replaced in Jan. FML !..... but then i noticed that all of the pullies were filthy and hit them with a wire wheel and no more squeek....So thankful, but am loosing my voice from cussing so much....Overall....productive day.

Sounds like me when I was trying to pull my harmonic balancer off to fix the gasket behind my timing chain cover. Went through all cuss words and probably even came up with some new ones.

Re: What did you do to your v6 today ?

trying to figure out were the water in my oil is comming from , took the rossover pipe off and its all comming from the rear head , so now i need to pull the head and see why. i.e bad gasket , cracked or warpped head , or cracked block

what im going to do since it fills the cyl with water when the engine is off and the cooling system is presurized is. first get the motor warm so theres presure in the cooling system , then give it time to fill the cyl before draining the radiator , then ill quickly get it torn down so i can get the rear head off and see which cyl is full of water to narrow down the area of the gasket and which cyl i need to inspect

Going to take a guess on that as a bad gasket... Just a guess.

brand new gaskets , thinking the head is warpped as i didnt check it before i put it on this time , the first time i checked it it was a lil out but it sealed, i had to pull the head the 2nd time to fix a rocker stud that had pulled out .

instead of just repairing the one on the motor i decided to pull the head and do all 6 studs with helicoils

probably would have been better off just helicoiling the one stud without removing the head

Holy ****!
First thing I'd do if I were you, replace the bracket and replace all of those bolts in the front end including timing chain cover bolts, waterpump bolts, etc with all new ones and torque to proper spec with some anti-seize or oil. whichever you prefer.

That broken head may have been the reason it did that. Could be wrong as I am in no means a master.

Also it may be visibly obvious if one of the combustion chambers is cleaner then other from being steam cleaned or one of the runner/s is cleaner then the others.

center rear cyl , head was warped .016, i shoulda checked the head before bolting it back on, piston is nice and clean now i gota take the time to clean the other 5 before i put it back together , which also means having to spend the time to port another set of heads , since i cant get the current heads cut due to lack of machine shops

Re: What did you do to your v6 today ?

I finally got my ptc converter from lane in the mail yesterday. I'm beyond excited to see how this converter responds. It's a nissian core billet 9.5 inch converter. Custom to my engine and specs. Hopefully right arround 4500-5000rpm stall. I never thought I'd have a 1k dollar custom converter but they are the best in the business and their name speaks for themselfs.

I'll post some pics after work.

Finished the waterpump install. added coolant. noticed it look like someone went dookie after letting the car run a few minutes. use rag to absorb mystery car dookie. let the car run without rad cap off while i went in to pee. watched old faithful go off about the time i got back to the car. shut car off. tried straightening hood while engine cooled. broke the body hammer. shut hood and went inside.

So i was back under the car again today and replaced the rear sway bar end links with ES links to match the front tie rod ends and the trans mount.....slowly pice by pice it's getting new Es suspention. The both were fused so bad they broke off and was still a pita to get off.

yeah ! Drove her to the test and the long way back, drove alright with old dirty fuel. It failed, im working on her now , nothing too major though. Bits of steering link and stuff, ive got all the parts just spending the money to get her legal on road first then in a few months ill put her in for a front end overhaul.
This car drives completely different to my 92 auto. Its so light it bounces down the road and with the ridiculously obnoxious exhaust everyone jumps outa the way , kinda of like driving a wasp !

New idler arm fiitted, tough getting old one off. Rear brakes checked, cleaned and free'd up, new indicator relay to be wired up.
need a set of plastic wheel nut covers, expensive here though. Can anyone post a set from a scrapie to the uk ?

Also noticied some slight rear wheel movement horizontally in and out of axle. How much is normal ? Acceptable ?

Re: What did you do to your v6 today ?

Been driving her around, the suspensions loosening up a bit now, still got a lean we cant work out but whatever .
checked the timing today, dam thing was at 4° , got it at nr 11° on the side of ten though. Drives much smoother and more responsive.
Well when i first got her she wouldnt rev past 4200rpm and she now goes up to 5200rpm which im happy with , progress ! ive gradually managed to get higher and higher over the years.

Drove it to work, much smoother and quieter on new timing.
Really need to give the brakes attention they are BAD.

Worked on mine for a short while the other day. Got the accesories on there, nitrous stuff, radiator and hose, and braided trans lines. Hopefully within a few hrs i can start it up and break in the new engine.

Then i just have all the wiring inside, and the swing outs on the cage to finish up.

lol yeah, and in China, they just call it "food". That's a cute diner. Good going, take your boy everywhere, and he will grow up to be a gearhead. And have nice memories of the two of you together! Win-win.
