A family member bought this car brand new in 1982, drove it until '86, and put it away in a garage until I pullled it out in 2007. Out came the motor and trans for all new gaskets and a nice clean up, and now its back on the road. Car now has just over 60,000 orignial miles.

Reason: Title change
Chazman you are correct. The previous owner drove the car for one winter, in which he put it in a ditch and had to replace the front fascia. He had a spare one for an 85 iroc sitting around so he had it painted and tossed it on. And thank you for the compliments!
I noticed the fascia also. The ground effects pieces don't flow well for those that even notice, but if nobody notices, then ...... I would add on some of the original touches to break up the color some. Some kind of striping above the ground effects and also the black hood striping used on the 82-84 cars. It looks great.
I have contemplated putting the factory stripes back on, but i cannot bring myself to make a decision. As for the mismatched gfx, does the iroc gfx use the same mounting holes as the factory z28 ones?
uhh the engine was blue? my engines not blue? was that the original engine?
Yes orignial motor. From 77 to 82 all GM engines were "corporate blue". Starting in 83 all GM motors were painted black, thats why its so rare to see a factory blue painted motor in a third gen.
i see, interesting, i was considering "maybe crossfires were blue and they swapped to a single carb setup" but now i know "and knowing is half the battle GGIIII JOOOOEEEE
This guy claims he has an Indy 500 Z28 But it doesn't have the spoiler and as far as I know it just has the LG4 and not the LU5. Plus the front bumper has the three slits in it? I'm just new to the Camaro scene and am thinking about trading plus cash for my Buick Lesabre.
Sorry to thread jack, I just can't make threads since I'm a new member. I just felt the bumper/fascia issue made this thread slightly more pertinent than some others.
A few updates have occurred since i last posted. I got rid of my hooker muffler and tips, and got an 80 series with factory looking tips. I also got my new rims on, 17x9.5 C4 ZR1 wrapped in 275/40/17 Sumitomo's from OE Wheels.
Car is looking sharp with those rims. I believe the mounting holes are the same. I have a 87 Iroc with a 84 z28 front nose. Thats how I got the car, I have a period corect hood & taillights for it also. So it will look complete.
uhh the engine was blue? my engines not blue? was that the original engine?
At Norwood, we stsrted putting in black engines in late summer of 82. I had an 82 Z built September of 82 and it had the black engine. One day we had blue, then we had black.
Haven't updated this post in quite a while but now that there's a lot more progress I figured it this was a good place to continue.
After driving the car for 10 years with the factory 305/TH200c combo, it was time for an overhaul. The gutless 305 has now been replaced with a fully forged Dart 406/T56 combination, as well as a 4th gen rear end
