I was actually at the T/A nats that year along with OKFOZ and Bruce from Hawks. In fact, I think that's Johns yellow 87 on the left in the upper picture. My car was just out of the shot to the right in the lower picture.
That car was strange but very well done..

I know lots of people on 3rd Gen believe in originality. I do to. However if you have a plain Jane car why not play with it. Honestly I think you should do whatever you want to your car if its what you like and want to be seen in. I don't always agree with the results, but hey, I don't have to be seen in it. Here are a few well done cars I like.

That blue abomination above is a geiger. I have a lead on widebody panels from them.

Re: At what point do "Resto Mods" go too far?
I think people should do as they please with their own car, I think thats a lot of the fun. Restoring and restomoding my white RS seemed insane to my co-workers, family, most friends & my girlfriend. They all judged and had issue with the idea of restoring and modding an 25 year old car for cost of buying a new car. I couldn't have cared less what they thought about it. I'm sure most of the owners of these cars really don't care what others think either.
The results with cars in this thread aren't to my liking and I'm not above rendering a harsh judgement. Most of the cars in this thread are more Retard-o-mods to than Resto-mods. Yet it would be very entertaining to see how much attention some of these rolling horrors generate. Negative attention is still attention.

Winter is always tough on us northern 3rd Gen owners. Tinkering in our garages. Waiting for the snow to melt and the salt to wash away.....

It makes you excited to see the results of all of the welding, hammering, wrenching and painting that took place in the garage.

Re: At what point do "Resto Mods" go too far?
I haven't seen too many over the top cars lately, but recently a car has shown up locally here on CL in KC. It's listed as an Eye Catcher. The outside is alright, but not my taste. However the prize is on the inside.

bjpotter,
This picture here is actually a 1989 TTA at a dealership in Indiana I believe. The dealer done it a lot. They would put Post it notes all over it to show details.
