Hello everyone,
I recently installed the Intellitronix Digital Dash part # DP3001 into my 1984 trans Am. Not sure if I did something wrong but the fuel gauge does not seem to be working. It just reads "00". Right now I have a 1/2 tank. If you did one of these installs your input will be greatly appreciated. My original is broken wont read. I also went to Autozone and got a GM aftermarket fuel gauge to test. It is reading a little above empty. But I know I have at least 1/2 tank. I connected a ohm meter to the yellow post is reading 15 ohms.

I’m pretty sure it is the sending unit. I have the intellitronix in my 91 camaro and my oil pressure was acting weird and it was the sending unit and the Sane happened where my gas was reading all over and I had to put a new sending unit in.
I had these gauges in my 82, took 4 attempts at getting a board without burnt out leds somewhere on the 2 boards, and made it a whole 22 miles before the last board started burning out leds, all in random places I took them out and sent them back and still waiting for a refund In my opinion they have cheaply made boards with worse leds, I am wondering if others have had issues that have had them in for some time?

2knight, which terminal was connected for the fuel (yellow wire)? I'm 99% sure I'm using the correct terminal. It's possible my printed board is going bad.
It's been a few months but I'm thinking you're hooked to the wrong terminal. I believe that's the ground, I think it's the left terminal just like temp gauge below and ignition is on the right terminals, just take a voltmeter or test light to confirm this. Yes they were very good at sending out new boards, but 3 bad boards right off the bat is bad quality control as they mustn't test before sending out, and I didn't want to pull my dash apart everytime the cheap leds burnt out, my factory gauges are much more reliable lol. They don't like to give refunds on there products though, I mailed at my expense all the boards back and Paul the owner claimed to have mailed a check after Christmas and everytime I call he has to check with accounting, I just figure I'm out the money and a good learning experience to not do business with them. But still curious if any others had issues with them? Also found out the tach connection if connected to my hei distributor when revved past 3600 rpms the tach reading went haywire, I did some experimenting and found out a 10K resistor soldered inline with the tach gauge connection cured it and it worked fine after that in case any one else has troubles with that issue.
That's good to hear, how long have they been in use? and how long ago did you purchase them? I think they had a bad batch of leds, because the last board worked and they slowly dimmed and burnt completely out within a few minutes only a couple of segments on one gauge, still I was tired of pulling dash apart the screws were starting to strip plastic pieces out lol, lifetime warranty is great for as long as they're in business but you still have to pay return shipping and have downtime without gauges.
I bought one in green and have not installed it yet.
Question: does anyone think that the LEDs are burning out from being too bright?
That should be just a matter of changing a resistor or 2.
yes, nada... when I hit it with the voltmeter left is nothing, top, IS negative, right is positive. Left terminal just reads a "1" on the ohm meter... 2knight, "ignition/ground"? please explain before I go to the fuel sender. Also checked under driver rear seat for fuel sender connector, I see nothing. There are a few wires running in front of the rear seat.

You have to remove fuel sender wire from that top lug and plug it into the one just to the left of it, the one you have it connected to in the picture is the gauge ground.
ok guys... everything is fixed an working! I moved the Yellow wire to the left post. Originally i was reading the top post for OHM reading. The top post was reading OHM's which is the reason for putting the wire there. The left post is infidelity fuel sender, top is negative - , right is + positive. I read the responses and started at the beginning to troubleshoot. I removed the gauge cluster and quickly found the contacts were not sitting correctly to the male connectors in the dash. The connections were crossed and giving a false reading. I did not take a picture of the messed up wires. See pictures as they when fixed. Thanks for all your help. I'
m so glad my fuel sender is working. got a quote for 10 hours to drop tank, rear end etc. almost a grand if bad sender. Left digital dash - Tach, Speedo
Cluster after fix.
Working Fuel.
Right gauge all correct except Yellow (fuel) should be on left post.
