Programmed bin does not match bin used

I am new to programming here, great site and people here for help with tuning! I have the Amazon burner which came in as XGecu Pro instead of Mini Pro I see around here that others have. I found the Xgpro software and drivers and all appears to work and is a very similar GUI to Mini Pro, the drivers do not work with the Mini Pro software, maybe a conflict as I already had this Xgpro software/drivers. Everything appears to work but the chip will not run the engine for more than a couple seconds. This is a SD TPI with 7730 ECM with a mild 350 in a Fiero. I have the GP1 package and HDR1 from Moates, I can read the original chip with this hardware/software and open and view all data in Tunerpro. I tried burning the stock tune and it runs the car the same I can pull the chip off the ZIF and it does the same so something is not happening.

I read about offsets and the bin files are 32K in size so I set it up as buffer address range 000000 and end 007FFF in the address range of Xgpro software per Moates offset info. Then I setup at to program start of 08000 and 00FFFF but this still did not take. For now I am just trying to get the original tune to work on a SST27SF512 PROM via the ZIF setup then I can play from there. So I decided to read this burn I did of the original tune and the first thing I looked at in Tunerpro was injector flow rate and this was at 0.16 #/Hr, I then went to the compare option in TP and the original tune shows 20.99 #/Hr, next thing I looked at was VATS and it is enabled or selected in the burned bin vs the original so I started looking at everything and it is all different.

I am using a $8D.xdf file from here: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...738&viewfull=1

Not sure why everything would be completely different.

Might try first comparing the bins outside TPro in a binary compare program to see if there is truly an offset issue, or just have garbled data. The attached (AptDiff) gives a good view. While there will be differences seen in the calibration (0x0000 - 0x9807), should be NO differences in the code from 0x3000 onward. Compare and that may reveal the issue.

Thanks 84Elky these are definitely different I am seeing all 00 in offset hex in original tune and all FF in copied to SST chip version.

Don't believe I can help. I use Moates hardware because it's designed for GM and is plug & play. Not at all familiar with what you are using other than TPro. Burning is not that complicated a process so must be a software issue.

I use the minirpro and these are the settings I use when I open a bin file to program onto a 27S512.

I am using the XGecu Pro branded version for hardware/software:

This is the original tune chip I read there is a yellow round sticker that has HTM on it over the "window".

Maybe I will just return it and go with Moates Burn2, at this point $30 more would have been worth my time I just thought this could do more if ever needed.

I must be doing something wrong. Doing more research I found an old thread where you were having issues and had to clear the buffer with 00 instead of FF, I think I tried this but may have done it wrong. Here is your thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...ipro-chip.html

Re: Programmed bin does not match bin used

I got it! I was doing it wrong with the buffer address. I found this post https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...sd-doesnt.html and followed your instructions here:
From File Start Address 00000
To Buffer Start Address 08000
Clear Buffer with 0x00

I was not choosing this clear buffer correctly. Then program 84Elky sent me states it is a match.

Thank You!

Re: Programmed bin does not match bin used

I am indeed! And your pricing is way too low I think your leaving money on the table!

So all is a match now then I looked at injector flow rate ad it is: 179769313486231570814527423731704356798070567525844996598917476803157260780028538760589558632766878 #/Hr

Obviously something is corrupt here, I will re read my stock tune and start over. This is in my original bin that was reading 20.99 #/hr and the programmed SST chip showed 0.16#/hr. Other strange scalers like cylinder volume 0.00 and Max BLM 0.00 etc... But I feel like I am getting closer anyway.

Re: Programmed bin does not match bin used

I downloaded a fresh AUJP bin and all looks good in TunerPro. I programmed it, read it then compare in TunerPro and I am back to square one. I think I did not read the last one and this is why it matched. I am back to my 0.16#.Hr injector flow rate. How I am reading this I open bin then select File Load Options like below:

Below is the loaded bin:

Then I select Program and Start address and end address a below:

Then after a chip verify I get this:

Then I read chip save file then compare and get this:

Anything I am doing wrong you can see?

Re: Programmed bin does not match bin used

The only difference I can see is I have my Set Range set to "All".
Just to rule out some other issue beside the programmer, send me your bin. ultm8z@yahoo.com. I'll open it and see if I get the same results.

Re: Programmed bin does not match bin used

This is the bin I was working with today:

http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...2&d=1323220011

AUJP

Also it did not matter what bin I used here.

Re: Programmed bin does not match bin used

Yeah, that seems like a standard run of the mill AUJP bin to me when I open it.

Re: Programmed bin does not match bin used

So this setting for address range was an issue. But also it appears if I read the chip after burning then save it this is giving me all this strange data. I was able to use an un corrupted 90 Vette bin I had and programmed with no VATS then the chip verify passed and then the car fired and ran.

I am pulling the original chip now to read so I can get another good original bin to work with.

Thanks for all the help!

Re: Programmed bin does not match bin used

Be sure to erase or clear the 512 chip before reprogramming. I did not see you mention if you are doing that step.

Thanks for the reply. I did try manually clearing also if you look at the screen shots in the lower left of the programmer software it is selected to clear before programming automatically and it works this way. I am able to program successfully now!
