Anyone using the Minipro chip burner?
Anyone using the Minipro chip burner?
I just got one and I'm struggling to figure out how to get the Minipro software to start programming at address 08000. On my PPII, that's there the "device start" is set to for a SST 27SF512 chip.

You can't input the values when the programming window pops up?

No I don't, I just watched a video from EEVBlog on it after reading your post. I was hoping Dave would have shown some of those changes, but he just showed some of the basics.
I'm not sure if having the software without the hardware would allow me to see if there was a setting else where in the software or not.
You could always stack the bins to fill the entire EEPROM, so that the offsets won't matter.
Which version of the programmer did you get?
This is part of the reason why my go to programmers are the BUNR2, APU1, and my Willems GQ-3X, because all support this need easily. The GQ-3X also does many other chips than just the SST EEPROMs used by Moates.

I'm running version 6.10.
Yeah, I'm thinking about returning it and getting the autoprom from Moates. This minipro was so much cheaper, I thought I'd give it a shot. The guy on Ebay I bought it from is pretty helpful as much as he can, but he said no problem if I return it.
It seems like a nice little piece of hardware, so I'm hoping to get it working. My old parallel port PPII seems to have taken a dump, so I'm looking to replace it with something else.

I have the TL866, mine is a few years old now. It works great for me. I havent burned an EFI chip in over a year or so, but I recall that I just set up the bin stacking in tunerpro, easy as that.
What I like about this burner is that it is a universal programmer and I can also do quite a few microcontrollers and such. I sure as heck wouldnt trade mine back in.

If you decide to go to a different programmer and need more capability than what the Moates' programmers can do, take a look at the Willems GQ series of programmers. At quick glance it looks like it will program all the same chips as the one you just bought, and more. Offsets are assignable, and easy to use. I bought mine from mcumall.com

I'm going to send it back and get an Burn2 from Moates, which is what I probably should have done to begin with.

I got it to work finally!
The key was to have the software clear the buffer with 00 rather than FF upon loading the bin. Car fires right up now. Woo hoo!
