Air pump delete

Just have questions on deleting the air pump on my 89 IROC-Z 305 SBC. I'm looking at getting headers, and the ones im looking at, Hooker competition, don't have the connection for the air pump. Any recommended pulleys or advice on getting one? New to trying to delete air pump. Just wanna make sure that i'm not gonna screw anything up by deleting it. Thank you for any advice in advance.

Because of the routing you can just run a shorter belt. I can't remember what belt I bought.

I wasn't sure and thought I would need a replacement pulley in order to do it right. i"ll look into it, but if you remember just let me know!

I doubt I will.

Run a string around the pulley's, except skip the air pump.

However long that string is, is roughly how long the belt needs to be. Usually the belt length is somewhere in the part number. Then you try until you find one that fits and tensions correctly.

On a TPI car I remember it being a 96.5 " belt. Ive seen pics here on the re-routing I think.

Re: Air pump delete

A 95 Chevy Silverado 1500 does not have the pump, get a belt for it and look up the routing. That's how I figured out how to re-route my old Firebird TBI that I never did.

Search the forums, lots of info!

ACDelco #935K6 + your Cat converter(s) need a plug of some sort or be replaced.

Re: Air pump delete

What do you do with the 2 wiring connectors that plugged into the black box on the passenger side valve cover?

Leave them be, I believe. It has been a long time. My setup has changed since. The wiring is all gone now and no mods in the tune. That's what it looked like in 2001 when I did it. The wires are just hanging there.
