That Boss setup looks neat though. I might use that to replace the cheap android head unit in my Silverado and see if I like it. That truck is a reg cab and has four Boss speakers. (300w)

I'm still trying to figure out the Bose system on my 2500HD. I think I have 1 blown speaker in the door. I know the amp is under the center console. I'd like to put a sub under the rear seat. Not sure if I want to use the bose stuff or swap all the speakers + amp. But that's a project for another day.

I need to get motivated on the rollbar this week on the firebird. I also need to road test it to see if the transmission I built actually works lol. It moves forward and back in the shop though. I bought a digital transmission pressure gauge (handheld). I want to verify the pressure at idle, in drive, and play with the EPC duty cycle to make sure it responds reasonably and at various RPM. 60's are very sensitive to over or under pressure.

I also need to dial in my shift points. I have my WOT shift points set but I mean my part throttle shift points. "load" is TPS %.

Negative, BOSS operating system. It has the ability to change background images I think and music from USB. I've never seen anyone hack these to run a custom OS. I know there are android versions like this available so you would be able to run android apps to do what you want. Now that I think about it... I have the "torque" app on my phone... maybe I can see if that will work while in car play.

Yes, the 2011 has a single sub in the center console in front of the cupholders and it's a weird size like 6-6.5". The amp is below the storage bin but you can gain access to some of the wiring (sub connector) by removing the cup holders bin. They sell harnesses to add an external amp which would be in addition to the BOSE system (taps into the signal wires). The issue with the BOSE system that that the chimes and stuff are built into the amp so if you delete it you loose that stuff. The aftermarket PAC module and android harnesses come with a mini chime speaker. I would think that the aftermarket harness will allow you to just run new wires to the aftermarket amp but you would need speaker wire connections or convert the harness to RCAs to plug into an aftermarket amp. My understanding is there is a big cluster or wires going into the amp (low level from radio) and then wires coming out of the amp the speakers (high level) but the BOSE has internal crossovers so it splits the radios front speakers full range and pushes it into to high range (dash and pillar tweeters) and doors get mids/lows. I personally wish the BOSE was easier to bypass and even finding the connectors is hard.

Have you gone through all the gears with it in the air? At least you can make sure it shifts through and you get some pressures. It's about to be driving time for you... better hurry up!

Yeah, for the firebird I would need a native android device that I can actually install the app on. I basically want to use it just as a display. I have speakers in the car, but I don't think I've listed to music in that car probably for 10 years.

I'll have to figure this out. I know some folks have done the Pheonix system which also replaces the HVAC controls. I need to first determine if the driver door is a blown speaker, wiring, or bad amp. Then I guess go from there. I did some reading and the bose speakers are a weird impedance, so you can't just replace them. It's funny, the non-bose factory system in my 2012 2500hd sounds better than the bose in my 2011 2500hd. Weird.

I have another more pressing issue with that truck though. My ABS module fried and its taking out the canbus. I have it unplugged right now. They have been discontinued for about 3 years now. I'm not really sure what to do. AC delco # 20980215 I think it is 1 year only or 2011-2012 only or something.

Nope, just moved it back and forward 3 feet. Just so busy with other projects. I'm also parting out my 2003 2500hd and getting stuff ready for the swap meet. (I do them monthly april-november).

Going to jump back on the roll bar next week, then road test the car.

This company generally gets good reviews and the hardware is generally better than the generic stuff. They have floating screens as well, this is a 10.1" and runs android.

I wouldn't do the pheonix system... The giant screen is not bright enough in the day and they can be glitchy. My brother runs one in his 2017 Denali and while it works its def quirky. I personally Don't like loosing physical buttons for certain things. Also the screen goes lower and becomes hard to see since its so low plus the screen brightness and glare is an issue.

Def figure it out, I pulled this from the internet - Front door 6.5 woofers are ~2 ohms. Rear door 5.25 woofers are ~4 ohms. Sub is I THINK 2 ohms when I go to crutchfield I see a wide range of speakers... 3-4ohm. I would chat them on the website and see what they say. That sucks about the module... I know the ABS and the Suspension control modules like to go and take down the canbus. No luck on the interwebs? If the brakes work I would just leave it off, I'm not a fan of ABS anyways lol.

I would like to get down to the GM show and the vette show at Carsile this year... it's been 2 years since I've been. 3rd gen parts have gotten very $$... FB and some of the 3rd gen places want $150 for a gauge cluster... I used to pick them up for less than $50.

I would just jack up the rear of the car and run it through the gears at least you will know it goes through and you can get an idea of the low load shift points.

Oh good, send me your ABS module

The problem is, not only does it set malfunction codes in the PCM and BCM, but it flips out when I turn the vehicle on displaying messages on the dash, illuminating malfunction lamps, etc. If it was just an "ABS LIGHT" I wouldn't care.

But yeah, if a module dies it takes the whole bus down which is why it's unplugged. If I can't find a module, I need to jumper 4 pins to bring my trailer brake controller back online.

That head unit looks slick. I'll do some more reading on that. It does seem some people complain about the microphone not being very good. I've noticed that is true with a lot of these units for some reason.
