30 year owner
I bought my 89 IROC new, and have been a member of this board since 2000.
After 30 years and almost 400k miles, it was time to sell. So many NJ winters took a real toll on the car. Its amazing it lasted this long.
I want to thank the community for all the help over the years, without this resource, I would never have kept & enjoyed the car this long. I like to think that I was one of the few original owners, and one of the higher mileage guys on the board. Thanks again, and keep em running!

That's amazing VIKING! That was a great run with that. I am also a original owner of my 88 GTA. We're up to 196k and still going strong.
A great community for sure. Find ya another one and go another 400k!
Good Luck!

Amazing! that must be bittersweet - out of curiosity what was the hardest/costliest thing you had to fix throughout that 400k Mile journey!

Re: 30 year owner
There are a few of us long haulers out here. Though I didn't buy the firebird new I've had it 22 years 220k miles on it now, bought it when I was 17. Have you actually sold it yet? you should find LSMatt (he is a Youtuber out of NY/NJ area that does thirdgen stuff) would be interesting for him to buy it and keep it going as a high mileage car.

Re: 30 year owner
The costliest thing was when I had the car re-painted, new windshield, embalms, decals, new quarter panel, new rims all at once. That was in 2000 @ about 275k miles. It still wears the same paint job, was much better than the factory job.

That’s really cool! The best part is you drove the car. My car has become a garage queen and I am starting to resent that decision. The best times I had in that car was when I would daily drive it.

That is very cool & magazine article worthy in my opinion.
Do you happen to have any pictures throughout the decades you could share? Especially early ones?

Re: 30 year owner
Great story! -and I love the old blue and yellow tags! I grew up in Randolph. Bought my 86 in 91 and it got the "new" black and yellow tags. ....moved to NC in 95, and in 98 I bought the 89 Iroc I still own. 21 years of ownership doesn't win any awards, but it ain't too shabby either!
glad to hear your car is still being loved!
