The mystery bolt thread.

So I pulled my intake and accessories off over a year ago with plans to do a quick cam install. In the middle of the process my son’s truck dropped a cylinder and all extra time and money went to that.

I now have the cam installed and have some mystery bolts that I’m hoping you guys can help me place as I am putting everything back together. Here are the first two. They go in or around the fuel rail. I appreciate any and all help.

thanks,
Joey.

I don’t recognize those, engine parts that use torx on tpi. Fuel rail, tps ,intake to head, plenum
and runners, front accessory brackets on 89-92 tpi

I've looked all over my engine and engine bay, and I don't see any bolts like those. They look kind of hefty in your hand, not small like the fuel rail and TPS bolts. Are the seat belts installed in the car? They look like seat belt bolts that bolt into the floor.

maybe top bolts for the runners to plenum? Seatbelts are in car. The only things removed were front brackets, plenum, runners, fuel rail, intake, valve covers.

Re: The mystery bolt thread.

The runner/plenum bolts were originally black oxide button cap torx bolts, like the valve cover bolts, and there would be more than 5 of them. The head on those look like they might be the right size, and if you're not the original owner, then someone could've changed them in the past. Have you tried to screw them into the plenum to see if they fit?

Re: The mystery bolt thread.

From the size, they look like the runner to plenum bolts. However, like mentioned above, the original bolts were cap head torx, not square head. The previous owner changed them out for some reason. If they were a lot smaller, I’d say they are the TPS and TB top plate bolts. Unless, that is you have very very very small hands…lol!

Re: The mystery bolt thread.

They are bigger than the plenum/runner bolts. They are the same size as the intake and bracket bolts.

Could the bolts in question be for the intake manifold to cyl head? They look to be the right size. Of course, you need more than five.

Re: The mystery bolt thread.

Cold Start Injector switch. If you'll be deleting the CSI with a custom tune, then just plug the hole. Another option for that hole if you're deleting the CSI switch could be to relocate the fan switch from the passenger side cylinder head, where it will always be easy to access in the future, being right in front.

Re: The mystery bolt thread.

...Just like my '86, but that it also still has the CSI installed and active. It always starts, and never floods. IIRC, I set the cold enrichment light but not to zero. It's semi- psuedo- nearly- almost original that way, a little.

It’s been so long since I did a start tune it could be a fan switch tune setting , bad cts reading or bad ecm
or connection with prom. Does it go into diagnostic mode and blink a code 12 ?
