Good Show on West Side

Went to the car show at Sam's Club at I-10 and hwy 6 last Saturday. It was great. Got there about 7pm thinking there would be just a few cars and they would proabably split by dark. Man!, there was may 20 to 25 cars and more just kept coming. I mean awesome cars, everything from an antique MG to totally modified Camaros, lots of firstgen and second gen camaros (one firstgen firebird 400, awesome!), Challengers, ZZtop type cars, even some passable Mustangs I left about 9 and they were still coming. Apparently this show has just grown recently into a good show. I hope it continues. Apparently Sam's has not complained and there were even two sheriffs there walking around. The crowd was definitely older and more mature, serious. Please, if you come there, be cool. I'm sure all it would take would be one burnout to wreck the whole thing.

I was going to Humble and Deerpark before, about 1hour plus from my house in Katy, this if 15 minutes. Great way to spend a few hours, see you there.

Larry... This show was at Firestone at 1960 & West Rd. and moved to Sam's about 2 monthes ago. The sheriffs are payed by one of the participants to run off the hell raisers. Three weekends ago there was at least 80 cars when I got there at 9:00. It has grown from when it was at Firestone.

Yeah, someone said that the show had recently moved from somewhere else where they were having some problems from the owners. That's cool about the Sherriffs, good idea. I will probably be there just about every weekend at least for a little while since it's so close to my house. I did notice there was absolutely no **** at all. Closest thing was an antique MG
HOpe to see you there

No and you won't see any E C I R Burners there cause they screwed the other location. I am headed to the Woodlands show this weekend. Was at Sam's the previous 2 weekends. The weekend of June 28th there was 3 other third-gens besides mine. The most I have ever seen at that show. I will meet you out there one weekend. It is close to my house as well.

You were there last Saturday right, with the red IROC?. There was a guy parked next to me with Black IROC convertible that was pretty nice.

What's the deal with such strict censorship on this site? I was bleeped when I used the word for a grain that describes a certain type of car from Japan. Is that considered racist or something? I was also bleeped recently for using the word for the supreme being in the context of "bless America". Weird!

No, I had the bright red 91 formula. I was parked next to a guy with a black convertible IROC and there was a red IROC down the row across from me. Anyway I agree about the handshake, next time let's talk

Larry , did you head out to the show at Sam's this weekend? If so was there any other third-gen? I went to the Woodlands show and then to James Coney Island @ 1960 & 59. Woodlands was good but JCI was a little lame.

Man you need to go to SAm's. It was great again, even better than last week. There are some thirdgens, not a lot, I think two nice irocs and my formula. But man the other cars, whew!. awesome. There was a 76 or 77 pro street firebird just pulling up as I was leaving about 9, I almost went back, I love the styling on those bandit years. A nice 70 Cuda, for sale for $20K, some really cool old stockers like 50s oldsmobiles. One 56 chevy with an LT1 and completely new leather interior. It looked and smelled like a brand new car!!! totally awesome. There was a 69 or so Cougar Eliminator, the guy was had a for sale sign for $45K, must be a special colector or something, NIce vettes, 69 stingrays etc. I will be there again this week, its just too much fun.

I'm in! Will also drag along maybe 2 other 3rd gen biddies--1 camaro and 1 firebird. I'll be in a white 89 IROC with bra.

JCI in Humble is usually a great saturday show. This last Saturday was lame because the new JCI mgr. (that they just hired), ran eveyone off. But, it usually is a big show!

I may try to goto the Sam's show tomorrow night (if the weather is good!)

However, I need directions. So, let me know! I'll be coming from the Tomball area.

take the beltway around to I-10, go west on I-10. Take highway 6 exit, turn right on hwy 6, immediately take the first left into Sams wholesale club parking lot. I hope no one screws this show up, as it is quite nice and close to my house. I heard the sherriffs that are always there are hired by the people that put on the show. I believe it, they are a distinctly older (read more money)crowd. But cool though. I will proabably be there a little later as I want to go out to Lonestar raceway and make a few runs first.

see you there

Mike...you can also turn right off of Hwy249 onto FM1960 and just cruise it all the way down to Sam's just a stones throw from I-10.

"jacked", "packing", sorry we don't understand those words over here on the west side

This place is really nice. It's a family atmosphere, older people, kids etc, lots of folding chairs, really good atmosphere.

Sorry for the "Ebonics" Larry! I've just been a little on edge since my truck was burglarized last Saturday. I heard somewhere that the area in question was in a rough part of town, so if it was, I would be coming prepared. I was just curious about the area is all.

Well its 2:45pm and I hear some pretty strong thunder outside in Katy right now. If it doesnt rain I will probably go down there about 7 or 7:30, stay for an hour or so. I was just joking about that packing stuff. Trust me, its a real nice area. My daughter had my wifes Explorer recently at a rock show in the Montrose area and someone smashed the drivers side window, stole the the CD Player, and for just for the heck of it made two giant smashes on the front window. All for a stock Ford CD player you could probably sell for about $50 at the most. That sucks about your truck too.

Anyway, I need to scrub the rubber off the side of my car from running out at Sealy last night. See you there, I will have the red formula

It was raining on my side of town and I'm still messing with the starter issue, so I wasn't able to make it. Maybe this coming weekend if it's dry, I'll probably be there.

Cool, hope you make it this week. I met 406Z there and a few other thirdgen guys. We had about 6 or 7 thirdgens there. 406Z is the baddest (meaning good of course) thirdgen I have ever seen. As one guy said, it's pretty much the ideal that every thirdgen hot rodder aspires to. Totally built from top to bottom with a beautiful paint job. There were some other great cars there as well, like always. I love the fact that there sheriffs are there to keep out the riff raff, very good family environment. Must admit I saw some pretty hot babes there too. Cars, babes, hot Houston night, what more could you ask for !!

I will not be able to make it to the show on Saturday August 2nd. I will be attending the Metallica concert at Reliant stadium.

Larry,
Good to meet you last Sat. night and 406Z. (Do U have his e-mail? I did a 3rd gen "search" but it came up empty.) Hey Darryl, if U read this, PM me so I can get your e-mail. Your right about 406 Z 's car. It's definately an example to be held up for ANYONE to admire!!! Sure would like to see more 3rd gen's out there and would like to meet more of U guys and gals.

Well, I really feel stupid now. In rereading this thread, I see that 406-Z hasmade several posts. I wonder why the "3rd gen by name search" shows nothing?

Hey Larry,
We will probably go to Sam's Club/West side show again this Sat. If I get the new radiator on time I will bring it our for U to look at. I know I won't have time to get it in. Really busy with work right now. 1/24th scale Slot Car Division I national championships start Aug 7 in Washington DC, and we will be out of town for that and a few days vacation, for the next 3 weekends.
