injectors... ack!

I have GOT to either get new injectors or get mine cleaned well. If I go with new does anyone have any recommendations (yah unfortunately money IS an issue), or barring that, how 'bout a place who cleans 'em up nice (and can do it kinda quickly)?

Thanks as always guys!

There's an injector flush setup we use at the dealership. You can take your car to the dealership and ask them to do an injector flush. New injectors are expensive, and if you're sure that yours are just in need of a good cleaning, I'd go with the flush. Here, I think it's like $120 or so to perform the injector flush...

Thanks Matt, if Pasky can point me to where he saw that deal I would definately go that route, for sure. Even at 250$ for an entire set, I would probably go that way... if it's not a pain to swap 'em -- I have 0 experience with FI.

I'm pretty sure they need to be swapped out, if you put a long driver on them and listen to 'em through the pole you can hear 'em making a LOOOOOT of noise. I asked someone about it and they said they were 90% likely to be either clogged or bad, which may go a long way to explaining the sluggish feeling I get every here now and again! I gotta get some cash flowing again to work on me car, it's little things like this that are driving me batty! :P

Don't forget to do your fuel filter when you change them. May have been the reason for your injectors taking a dump.

You can find deals on them every now and then. I think SOnar bought some 24lb ones for like 99 bux or so. Might wanna have the injector constant changed in your PROM when you do change them too. He said It made quite a difference in his.

okay, two quick questions .. mostly cuz I'm ignorant about injectors. will I need any additional mods (other than a probable chip mod) to slap these puppies in (fuel pressure regulator, etc.)?

next question is are 25lb/hr injectors the way to go, or should I bump it up a bit ... I guess my question is where do I get the bang for the buck if I'm spending a bit of green paper! :P

25#'s should be perfect for you, stock is either 19 or 22. Your not heavily modded or running a cam/nitrous, so you don't need bigger. Nothing else is needed, they just clip on. Put new o-rings on the new injectors (their like $8 at autozone) and its also a good idea to change your fuel rail o-rings (think their $4 at autozone). Just need to set your injector constant to 25#'s and your good to go.

those ls1 injectors are rated at a different fuel pressure they are not going to be 25# unless u are running the same fuel pressure as an ls1. With the fuel pressure that we run those will be close to stock size. I will have to look around an see if i can find a conversion chart.

Why do U think they are giving U a problem?

Or are U just wanting to upgrade?

Go Summitt or somewhere like that and look around at prices--selections--ETC.

I hae the Ford SVO 24# injectors.

DO NOT GO WITH ACCELL! If U just want the stock ones cleaned--I recommend Cruzin Performance--will look up their web site address and post later.

An adjustable fuel pressure regulator is highly recommended.

Those are not LS1 injectors, they are actually under the ls1 and lt1 section. I think they are lt1 injectors which are rated at 43.5 psi. Not 53psi like the LS1. Actual Ls1 injectors are rated at 27-28# @ 53 psi.

There are several ways to est the injevtors U have now to see if they are operating correctly--both function and flow. If they are, providing the fuel filter is good (easy enough to change even if it is under the car by the fuel tank), from what I have read and adjustable fuel pressure regulator is good for some extra horsepower/performance. That is if it is basically tuned up and in good shape as far as plugs and normal stuff.

I have a good scanner--if U want to swing by we can hook it up and look and see if anything unusually is going on.

Well, par for the course, seems like I'm replacing most everything else I've run into 'till this point. I have heard, of course, that newer injectors will help with all manner of different things and figured that new was better than "cleaned." Since this is my daily driver, I figured it certainly couldn't hurt one way or another.

If you got a scanner though, I'll definately take you up on yer offer to drop by! I'll give ya' a buzz in either a little while, or tomorrow sometime. Thanks a mill!

Check the resistance across the to injector connectors. YOu will need a digital ohmeter to be accurate. I borrowed Barry's. They should all be like 16 ohm. According to what Ive read, anything less than 10 ohm should be replaced.

I run Accel injectors in my formula for over a year now and have not had any problems. They are like $230 or so for a set, compared to like $70 or $80 each from GM!!. They say getting them cleaned and flow matched at Cruzin performance is a good way to go if you can go without your car for a week or so, while you send them there, and wait for them to come back. If the resisitance is low, cleaning wont help though.

Hey, I was operating digital ohmeters before you were born. Well, maybe not, but I could have operated it,
