Because of the impending BAD/VIOLENT weather headed our direction, I am declaring the SPRING FLING THING a rainout. I really hate to be the one that makes that decision, but I've been watching the radar all morning and it's not a question of if, it's a question of when. The impending weather will and already is keeping people from coming to the event. -I have already heard from several people that are not coming because of the weather (one from out of town and 2 from Hou.).

The storm front is generating severe rain patterns/flooding, violent wind gusts of up to 70 MPH, tornados, and baseball size hail!!!

However since it will probably be late afternoon/early evening before it hits, and their are too many diehards that won't let a little rain scare them off, we ARE going to the same park and BBQ and hang out til the weather runs us off!!! Besides MRS ZAP has all this food (tater salad-deviled eggs) that will go to waste if we don't do something with it--so those of U that aren't afraid of getting your car wet--come on out and help us eat some of this food.

The official raindate will be next Saturday--4/02/05-- same time schedule. The awards will be given out next Sat.- I seriously doubt the strip will be up and running tonight because of the weather. If we don't get rained out by 5/5:30 and people want to go to the strip--I'm in, but WE WILL NOT GIVE OUT THE PERFORMANCE AWARDS EITHER! ALL of that will be next Saturday!

We had an excellent "dress rehersal" for the Spring Fling Thing. If some overzealous FOOL that was in charge of this thing hadn't jumped the gun and called it a "rainout", it would have been the perfect day for the SFT.

Not a drop of rain either at the park or the track. If it wasn't for the violent storms/rain tornados/hail that appeared to be coming our way, which caused a few people to call me and cancel before 10:30 AM, and I'm sure kept a couple others away that were supposed to be coming, I would have not called it--But I did!.

I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!

Will write more in the morning after I get some rest. (Maybe the afternoon depending on how long I sleep!!!) Couple things I need to go over and make sure everyone is up to speed for the real Spring Fling Thing next Saturday!

I'm not happy. I was all ready to go when it was called off. I had even made arrangements for a pit crew (my wife) to drive my truck so I would have a place to leave my street tires at the track.

yeah i went and bought some bfg dr's for my wifes car so i didnt have drive it out there on et streets just incase it rained. we went to hrp instead

boy you guys and gals that didnt show up dissapoint me! i drove down from fort worth to hang out. and considering how badly it "rained" on saturday i had a blast. Also you missed on helluva time at the track saturday night. tis a shame....... oh well ill be at the summer one because im sure there will be one!

Had a blast this weekend, kudos to those of you who were able to make it, those who couldn't, well, there's always this weekend! Track was a blast, some hella cars there, but it did kind of put a damper on TnTs. Kind of hard to look impressive setup against a car with a blower the same size as our friggin' engines!

Shout out again to Mrs. Zap for the potato salad and other various kibbles, mucho appreciated! Special thanks to Mr Zap himself for helpin' me out - couldn't have made it without ya' bud!

thats why i didnt go out there because i saw this post around noon saturday and made other plans because i saw that the "rain" wasnt gonna hit till around 10 or 11pm which it really didnt even start raining at my house ( katy area) till around 12:30pm or so.

Yes, it was a tough call (and I'll never do it again!).

If I am ever in that position again, I'll be standing in ankle deep water, and if somebody asks me if it is called off due to rain, my answer will be "I don't know-- think we should call it off?"

I had 3 people call me before 10:30 AM to say they were not going because of the weather that was coming our way. If U had seen the radar Sat morn, U probably would have done the same thing. There was a storm front that was producing severe rain/flooding, tornados, baseball size hail, 70 mph wind gusts, ETC, that I had been watching since 5:30 AM Sat morn. it was staying in tact and moving towards us, and did not look like it was moving off to the east like they said it might. At 11:45 AM, when it was time for me to leave to go to the park--it looked the same, just closer! Since there were already people cancelling, I made the only decision I could!

Sorry if it screwed up your day--I'm not going to defend myself or my decision--but I will offer an explanation! It's a done deal now and the Spring Fling Thing raindate is this Sat--04/02/05--same time --same place. Sorry U can't make it--maybe something will change for U, or maybe U can make it out to the strip later that night. I was and still am looking forward to meeting U and your car!

I'm pretty sure Mikeee will start the thread for the "Summer meet", after the Spring Fling Thing is done. The summer and winter meets have traditionally been his efforts (although I try to help out--it takes a lot more time and effort than people think it does!!!) U probably won't see me posting near as much for that one, as I am kinda burned out at the moment. The SFT was 100% my idea and efforts and I take all the credit--GOOD OR BAD!

I showed up because I failed to check the board before we headed out. I had no idea it was rained out. Oh well. It was still fun. I'm glad I came. I have no idea if I'll be able to make it out there this coming Saturday. I quit my job so I'm low on cash right now if you know what I mean. Gas is a ho. It's not like anyone cares, right? I won't be missed.

However, if I can get my other carb back on my car before next Sat., I might just show. I really want to race.

Why? He still won't have a clutch.

AS u probably already know, the "rained out" Spring Fling Thing has been rescheduled for this Sat--same time--same place. (see the SFT info + directions thread for more info). The weather is looking pretty good, so I don't think I 'll have a chance to screw it up again! It looks like it might be pretty cold in the evening, so bring the appropiate clothing for the strip as the wind always seems to be pretty strong there!

We will be voting for all the appearance awards. When u get there come see me or Mrs. ZAP and get a piece of paper so U can put your name /TGO screen name under your windshield wiper. Everybody that is there will get one vote in all the different catagories. I will have a form made out for U to use and turn in. we will count votes and hand out the awards before we take off to the drag strip about 5:30.

PLEASE, whoever is the first one in line of cars, leading the mass cruise, MAKE SURE U KNOW HOW TO GET TO THE TRACK FROM THE PARK!

I certainly wouldn't expect any of the out of towners to come down again, so unless somebody shows up that comes from a further distance than K's89RS did, he will get the "long distance award". All of the other appearance awards will be bsed on who is there this Sat--not who was there last Sat.

All of the performance awards will be based on this weeks runs at the strip--not last weeks--U MUST present time slips (YOUR TIME SLIPS--NOT SOMEONE ELSE'S!). We will gather around 9 to 10 PM and do this and hand out the awards.

We have a few left over items as far as food (ipack of sauage that Mrs. ZAP threw in the freezer and a big bundle of bottled water. I know I am asking many of u to bring food 2 weeks in a row, but that's life in the big city! We will get a couple extra packs of dogs and buns, but please bring whatever U can so we have plenty for everybody. I doubt if Mrs. ZAP will make another batch of tater salad and deviled eggs, but U never know with her! So, try and bring whatever U said U would originally bring to the SFT.

I work out of the house, so I'm here pretty much 24/7. I might be able to get by your shop, but not sure when--If yu will let me know when u might be there, I'll see if that is possible.
