Hou. Monthly Meets--PLEASE READ!
I am just interested as anybody in getting these going on a regular/monthly basis. I'd love to get together once a month and hang out for a couple hours, but I have a couple questions.
A few months ago, a bunch of U guys said that U were interested in doing something like this, but the participation and or discussion has been next to nothing, so maybe if we kinda get some basic ideas and figure out some "guidelines" of who/what / where/ why/ how, we can get out act together. I think one of the biggest things for these monthlys, is to keep it simple!
How many of U are actually interested in doing something like this? I fully realize that not everybody will be able to attend every one, but if the circumstances are right--give some idea of whether U would attend.
Where/what types of locations, do U want to meet? There are a number of possibilities--here's a couple suggestions.
Meet at a restaurant/burger joint.
Meet somewhere and go for a short cruise.
Dragstrip (I know not everybody is into the racing scene and that for many, the strips are a LONG drive). Might be cool to attend the monthly and then a few who are interested to cruise to the strip?
Meet up at one of the local Sat night car shows--such as Sam's club or the Woodlands Show.
Meet somewhere we can do some type of activity--like the track 21 go-kart track, or Dave and Busters, ETC
Swap meets/special event car shows, or a custom car dealer, ETC around town.
Special event we set up, such as a "scavenger hunt" or a "poker run"
SUGGESTIONS?
Location? Originally it was discussed that, unless it was to coincide with some special event, we should try and keep it as centrally located as possible. It was suggested to keep it no further out than the 610 loop (or right off the loop). Even at that, we could/should rotate it around town to different sides of town.
When? Many have already said that Weekends or Sat. afternoons/evenings is probably the best/easiest, but would like to hear more about this!
Also, do we want to have a designated day every month?--EXAMPLE: The second Sat afternoon every month.
I think the biggest/best thing we need to do hear, is just get some discussion going here to figure out, what to do, so people would want to attend. The more everybody joins in the discussion, the better we can figure what the masses want.
PLEASE LET US HEAR FROM U!!!

I'm in the Southeast side of the town, don't like going into Webster and pastthat area because all the cops are *******s and **** but I guess I'll behave this time.lol
I'm thinking saturday is a great day to hold it everytime, Itwould be cool would just some food. Maybe go to a park afterwards where we can chill after our meal and discuss our cars. How late will mommy let you guys stay out? (lol J/K) myabe we can even do a pass or two through the richmond strip late at night, it would be pretty cool to roll through there with about 10-20 camaros lined up. It'll devestate all the ricers that go out there and think they are the ****, but that would be kind of late and we still don't know the amount of people that will show up.
Anyways let me know what you guys think about this.
Just had another thought. A bar b Q at the park would also be cool, that is if anyone has any skills at that lol, goddd knows I would just burn everything and **** people off. lol! Let me know what you guys think.

Re: Hou. Monthly Meets--PLEASE READ!
In hopefully trying to get the ball rolling for the next monthly meeting, I got a place in mind.
Kibbles: Ragin' Cajun Seafood (they have AWESOME food!)
Location: S. Gessner & Westheimer
Cost: $5 - $15 / person
We could cruise Westheimer and then head out to a strip somewhere or another if peoples are interested. Hell, if we hooked up on Sat. night, we could all cruise out to the Sam's Club carshow, or go to a strip, etc.
I know it's a bit off from a major freeway but not far from beltway 8, I10, or 610 but it's really good food and it's next to a Randall's, so they have crazy parking available.
How's that sound?

I wanna know where everyone else is at! Their were 63 replies to the thread on the first one!
the seafood idea Sounds good to me, but I'm hoping to hear alot of other suggestions. Can we set an exact date so that I can request the day off of work?
I would really like to cruise the richmond strip with a couple of camaros lined up, that would be great. Take some picture's and ****.

i agree with u zap, if we have it the same time each month then we should have a good turnout. This should give us enough time to ask off for those days in advance. 2nd saturday of each month sounds good to me. i am willing to drive anywhere, as long as u guys dont mind me hanging around in a cavalier

After reading Larry Dunlap's thread about the girls at our monthly meetings, I think that Hooters would definately be at the top of my list of places to gather if we want something good to eat! (Watch your comments--I know what your thinking

OK--let's take this question + answer session about the monthlys, one step at a time.
WHAT DOES EVERYBODY THINK ABOUT HAVING A DESIGNATED DATE EVERY MONTH FOR THE MONTHLY'S?
Doe anybody have a problem with this and while were at it, does anybody have a problem with the second Sat every month? (actual time and locations to be deceided later)

Well, it seems like a number of people like the designated date every month concept.
DOES ANYBODY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SECOND SATURDAY EVERY MONTH FOR THE MONTHLYS?
If so, speak now or forever hold your Michael Jacksons!
Rudyt5000 had a good suggestion: To also have it at a predesignated time every month. That sounds pretty good to me. U wouldn't have to worry about what time every month--SAME BAT TIME, SAME BAT CHANNEL (Man does that date me!) Keep it simple!
Here's my suggestion: 4 PM--for several reasons.
1-Gives those that have to work partial days on Sat to attend.
2-Gives those that have a "honey-do list" to finish before they get a kitchen pass, to attend.
3-If we meet at a place to eat, it would beat the 6 PM dinner date rush on Sat nights.
4- It would be real easy to go to one of the local drag strips afterwards, (as a seperate function--not officially part of the monthlys!). U might always get a couple of people that decide at the last minute to go, that would have said no earlier!
5-It would be real easy to go to one of the local Sat night parking lot car shows afterwards, such as Sam's or the Woodlands, ETC.
6-For those of U who are are major PW'ed, U could come hang out for a couple hours and still have time to go take out your wife/girlfriend and keep them happy. (or semi-happy)
I would really like to hear from other people about if the date/ times are good or bad, and why. The more people we hear from--the more we can do whatever works for the most people-- the more people we get to show up every month!!!!!!!!
Once we get this part figured out--we will start discussing what we want to do and where we want to do it! Sound Cool?

i think 4pm or 5pm on the 2nd saturday of every month is great. if i work saturdays i can usually get out by then. i think we should not have the meets at a track for the simple fact that not everyone will want to drive to seally or whatever or pay admission, just leave the track thing a option

We have not really discussed the "what we want to do and where we want to do it" part yet. Although I have a feeling we will probably meet at a restaurant--somewhat central localized (or as best U can in Hou.)--below is repost from earlier post.
List of different possibilities!
1-Meet at a restaurant/burger joint.
2-Meet somewhere and go for a short cruise.
3-Dragstrip (I know not everybody is into the racing scene and that for many, the strips are a LONG drive). Might be cool to attend the monthly and then the few who are interested, to cruise to the strip (as a seperate function--not officially part of the monthlys!). 4-Mass cruise after the monthly meet at one of the local Sat night car shows--such as Sam's club or the Woodlands Show.
5-Meet somewhere we can do some type of activity--like the track 21 go-kart track, or Dave and Busters, ETC
6-Swap meets/special event car shows, or a custom car dealer, ETC around town.
7-Special event we set up, such as a "scavenger hunt" or a "poker run"
8-SUGGESTIONS?
Location? Originally it was discussed that, unless it was to coincide with some special event, we should try and keep it as centrally located as possible. It was suggested to keep it no further out than the 610 loop (or right off the loop).
Even at that, we could/should rotate it around town to different sides of town.
Early comments suggest that "Hooters" might be a good place to start, but not limited to that. There are always "special events" around such as car shows, swap meets, special events, that we might try and hook up with on ocassion. For the most part, as the saying goes, we are trying to "KISS" (keep it simple stupid!), so there is less to remember about when where ETC.

Second Sat and 4pm sounds good to me. Hooters is fine also.
The only other suggestion I have right now is that it would be nice to meet at a place where we have plenty of parking and spoace to hang out outside and check out each others cars. HFB used to meet at BW3 in the Village and parking sucked, so I quit going.

OK, the consensus seems to be the 2nd Saturday of every month at 4:00 p.m. Lots of people are talking about Hooters. Which one?
There's one on 1960 @ I-45, Gessner and Westheimer, the Village (59 and Kirby, but the parking sucks) .That's all my brain can handle. Any others? (Let's get this location nailed down for this month, then we can start on what's up for next month).

meh, I'm up for any of those. I'm not keen on sucky parking and since I work just around the corner from Gessner & Westheimer I can drop by and take a look @ the parking lot. If they still have it setup like they used to parking shouldn't be a big issue at all. Plus there's always Westheimer afterwards if some aren't keen towards a strip!
