leaking again

Hey whats up guys, the damn brakes are leaking again. When I went to Jay's house and he bled em they worked fine for about a week and then they got even worst then before, jay took a look at the rearend and said that it was fine so it has to be the damn brakes. Any ideas whats causing this? Strange thing is the reserve is not going down it is staying at the same level.

hmmm........ thats weird, the only place it was wet anywhere around the car was the back driver side caliper. but when we tested the system no leak, when we drove it and brought it back it didnt leave any fluid. my guess would be that its sucking air somewhere in the back, or it has a real slow leak somewhere back there. mike didnt you say you had just changes that back caliper?

Is the quality of the brake pedal being effected?

EXACTLY where is it leaking? Which wheel--where on the back of the wheel/brake calipars/backing plate//whatever, is it leaking?

Trying to determine if it's actually brake fluid or some other kind of fluid that is ending up there that is fooling U into thinking it is brake fluid! Is it clear like brake fluid--dark like rear end fluid--thin--thick--what?

If it is leaving a deposit on the left rear inside wheel--it might be gas? The send line--return line and vent are all in that area!

Reach down and get some on your finger and give it a taste (yeah I know that may apply to other areas of life, but right now we are talking about your car! )

Gotta make the most of the clues your car is giving U--if the brake master cylinder is not getting lower and it is not effecting the pedal--it cannot be brake fluid--remove master cylinder cap and make sure it is not going down!

By any chance, when U saw the fluid leaking, did U just put gas in the car?

Filler neck?

specifics

dark black it is thick and smells like brake fluid. It's not gas, no I did'ent just replace the caliper and it is inside the rear left wheel. The pedal has to be pushed all the way down for the brakes to start catching at all. It is not rearend fluid because they told me that smells like baby **** and this does not smell like that. It is all around the inside of the wheel. Its is falling off the caliper and landing on the inside of the wheel.

If it's leaking fluid, it's sucking in air..............

If it's effectig the pedal then it's definately something, BUT "dark black it is thick" sure does not sound like brake fluid--something strange going on there!

U know if the axle seal is leaking (which would explain the dark thick fluid) and it's leaking onto the rotor which would sling it onto the inside of the wheel, it WOULD make the brakes somewhat ineffective--if there is rear end fluid on the rotor there's no way in hell it's gonna stop!- -would also explain why the brake master cylinder fluid level is not going down on fluid!

Think about it!

Does the brake pedal come up when U pump it a couple times or stay the same?

yep

the brake does come up when I pump it a couple of times, I got a look at the fluid right when it droped onto the inside of the wheel and it was red, did'ent quite smell like ****.

What is it? Should I still drive the car? What do I do to fix it!

RED? I guess some types of rear end fluid could be red.

Is the brake fluid level staying the same?

Are the brakes working?

Does the brake pedal feel the same as it did right after U guys worked on it? (not how effective the brakes are--just the pedal feel when not moving)

" What do I do to fix it!"--Well first, it has to be determined what exactly before U can figure out what to do to fix it?

no

brakes do not feel the same as when we bled them. The brake fluid level has stayed the same since we last filled it up at xtremes house. The brake pedal is going up and down, it got stiff as hell when I pumped it three times like you said tho.

Just went out there and hit em again and they are still stiff.
