Fall Brawl--Head Count--Look Inside!

It is NOT necessary to sign up in advance, for any of the drag racing activities on Fri. or to attend the Meet/BBQ/Cruise on Sat.

EVERYBODY IS WELCOME!

From all 4 corners of the Solar system to all 4 corners of TEXAS!!! We are even giving an award grouped in with the appearence awards given on Sat, to the person who travels the farthest to attend the "2005 FALL BRAWL"!!!!

However, it would be nice if we had some idea of how many are planning to attend Friday night, and if U are gonna run in the double elimination ladder--just test n tune runs-grudge matches--ETC, please post here in this thread. Also, let us know what kind of times U run, and what time class U will probably be running. If U are not sure, take a wild guess.

Everybody is responsible for paying their own admission fees at the track. At the moment, I am trying to negotiate a "group rate", but i need a better idea of how many will be going to the track on Fri night before I can do this!U can check the normal prices as well as other info, at the HRP web site.
http://www.houstonraceway.com/index.html

If U plan on attending the Meet/BBQ/Cruise, Saturday, please post here in this thread, so we can get an idea of how many appearance awards voting forms to make up, as well as making sure we have enough food and drinks lined to feed everybody.

Its an 11.5 assuming you can keep that rate of acceleration.....and you should hit about 117mph. To me that doesnt make sense, I know 4th gen LS1s running about 12.3 or so but they trap at 117-124mph so I guess you got some crazy speed off the line or something.

I will try my hardest to attend the meet. I usually push other things out of the way to attend the large meets.

I will also try to get the wife out there also.

As for the grudge match? I probabally won't attend, but if I do, I will be in the 14.0 range, possibly 13.XX, so lets say 14.0-14.99

well i think part of the reason for my crappy mph was that i was short shifting it badly because i didnt want to hit the stock rev limit, plus i was able to get low 1.6 and high 1/5 60's out of it so my mph would be less then if i peeled out real bad. all of this on a bone stock 86 iroc rear end. never touched or opened

your good 60's would definitely explain why your mph seems down

I'm planning on being at both parts of the event.

I really don't have much of an idea what I'll run. I would guess a 12.5 would be the slowest, maybe in the 11's.

BTW does anyone know what safety equipment is required (besides a helmet) if you run in the 12's?

What about in the 11's?

Does anyone have an NHRA rulebook?

only thing you need from a 13.99 to a 11.99 is a helmet. 11.99 and faster you need a 6 pt cage with driver's side bar and driveshaft loops.

Maybe the HRP web site has that info, or a link to the NHRA rules?

the HRP site has a link that says its for the 1/4 track rule book but when you click it, it goes to the 3/8 oval rulebook.

I just sent an email to them aa well as posted a question on there message boards that deals with the Fri night racing, concerning the requirements.

We'll see what happens.

hmmm........this could put a real bummer on our plans. As much as I want to run the 1/4 mile track, now I am wondeing if we should have done this at HMP's 1/8 mile track, since they do not require roll cages until the car gets a lot faster than any of ours!!!

I looked it up in hte racing section of TGO. below an 11.49 you need an 6 point bar. Below 10.00 you need a full cage.

I have the 6 point, driveshaft loop and a helmet so I guess I don't have anything to worry about.

Ill be at both, unless some unforeseen emergency comes up somewhere in South America. With Thanksgiving the day before it will take one helluva emergency to get me out of town.

I'll be running in the 13.00-13.99 class.

What the heck happened to Barry, seems like he dissappeared.

Zap, thanks for all you help on the dragstrip stuff. I know I started this and will be there to do my part but I don't think I could pull it off without your help.

My pleasure...I have done stuff like this (organize meets and racing events) all my life and I enjoy doing it. It is no big feal for me, but appreciate all the kind words from everybody.

Tell U the truth, I'm starting to get really pumped about this one and it's still over a month away!

I will be at the drag race Friday night, don't know about the meet on Saturday. Don't know what class until I can get some runs in.
Craig shoot me an email, I got your trophy samples.

By the way I was at the astros game Monday night. What a crushing loss, ............. I am still depressed.

If memory serves, U were running low 13's, but I know U have been doing some work on it that might put it in the 12's. I'll put in the 13 class for now--always change it later.

Will e-mail about awards.

I realize that the 2005 Fall Brawl is still over a month away, but if we are going to be able to get a group rate at the drag strip, I need to have a better idea of how many are going to be there Fri night--RACING OR NOT!

I am spending an unusually large amount of time organizing this event, and getting all the details taken care of necessary for an event of this size, (which I do enjoy doing), but come on people, help me out a little here !

Please post if U are going to go!

Please post if U are NOT going to go!

GO ASTROS!

Still at HRP.

We never really seriously considered changing the location--just concerned about U 3 really FAST guys (unless there's more out there that I do not know about) that U would not be thrown off the track for going faster than the track allows for the safety equiptment U have in your car.

Hi All,

As always count me and the wife in. May even do the 1/4 mile now that I have a spare engine and trans.

What's the rule for Vert's again?

Probably, but then again with the small numer of people that say they are going to the drag strip Fri night, i don't think it makes much difference.

I just looked at the HRP message boards as well as the "Clash of the Titans" web site--YES they are scheduled for Fri/ Sat night of the weekend we were going to have our 2005 Fall Brawl. The admission prices are also all jacked up.

WELL, THIS SUCKS!!!

1. I took a closer look at both again, and the admission prices and tech card prices look to be the same as normal.

2. The Clash of the Titans scheduling for Fri night is practice and Qual beginning @ 9pm.

3. I do not know how much it will cut down the amount of time we will have available for runs on the track.

4. I do know that with those guys there, it will make for a MUCH more interesting night in between the bad *** cars that will be there and the "performance midway displays and attractions"

5. I did send an e-mail to the HRP mgmt, (who have been very coperative and helpful in responding to our requests and needs), about the time available to us on the strip, as well as admission/tech card prices.

So, based on all that, do we cancel our plans, or do we turn this around into a positive and embrace the Fri night activities, and enjoy the show that will be there, as well as our own thirdgen show!!!

If we can get in the number of runs necessary for a couple of practice runs for everybody, and whatever is necessary for our different time/class elimination ladder (which does not look like many at this point), I would think this would be even better, than just the normal Fri night crowd at HRP!!!

Can somebody that has a better computer than my old system and dial-up ISP, PLEASE go to the HMP (just so we know what our options are) web site and see if they are showing anything for Fri--Nov 25th. I have problems with that site.

As far as our stuff--verts are the same as anybody else.

AS far as the drag strip--not sure--go back and read previous posts about that, seems like remember something about verts being mentioned, but I think If U are 14.00 or slower, U are probably OK.

Probably make U wear long pants --no shorts--put the top up and turn off the A/C--LOL!

Refresh my memory--what engine is in your car--ever made a pass at the strip with it?

Alex

Based on other similar cars/emgines, I'm gonna guess high 14's or low 15's.

I'll put in the 15 sec bracket for now?

Like always I am going to say that I will try to make it , unfortunately I always seem to work on the days we have events even if I ask off they seem to call me in. I will not race if i do attend because I am short 4 cylinders right now, but I will plan to take a lot of pictures.

I plan on attending both days. On the 25th I will be in my truck, on the 26th, I might bring the car, if not, I'll be there in my truck. I don't like driving the car too far in it's current state. Maybe next year I'll be employed and I'll have it back in shape.
