FALL BRAWL AWARDS--Please read!

We need to see what everybody want to do about awards for the "2005 Fall Brawl".

For the 2005 Spring Fling we gave out 6" x 8" wood backed plaques (please see pic in the 2005 Fall Brawl flyer).
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=325495

Based on comments from several different people, about the awards, everybody seemed to agree that these were nice plaques, but that about the only thing U could do with them, was go set them on a shelf somewhere.

Most agreeded that a metal credit card sized plaque (same height, width, thickness as a credit card), or what is commonly referred to as a "dash plaque", would probably be better because U can mount it on your dashboard, (or wherever) with some double sided tape, and display it proudly, without it looking tacky or Mickey Mouse!

Based on that (and expense), we had planned on giving those out for all the performance and appearance awards, except the "Fastest Houston Thirdgenner" and the "Best Overall" appearance award. We were going to give the same kind of 6"x8" wood backed plaques for those 2 awards, as we used for the Spring Fling.

If everybody agrees with this, Please let us know.

If everybody wants the 6"x8" wood backed plaques, we need to know that, and we need to know it QUICK!

Also, those plaques are not cheap. There are a couple on the board, that have already pledged some money, but if we do that instead of the dash plaques, we will need to take up a collection to pay for them, and I refuse to go through what I did last time, to get everybody to actually chip in to pay for them, even though everybody wanted them!

If U want the larger fancier awards, be prepared to kick in a few bucks, and quickly!

OK--what do U want to do?

Seeing as I have no chance at winning any of the awards, I could care less personally.

The Dash emblem thing does sound pretty nifty...can you imagine filling up the entire flat spot on the pass side...

I don't like the dash plaque idea.

I don't have any emblems on my car and don't want any. The only thing I still have is the "ERSS" (Extended Range Sound System) plaque on my dash that came with my 4 speaker FM radio.

I don't care so much about the other trophies...but I think that the "Fastest Houston third gen" deserves a REAL trophy, not a plaque or a wood thing.

This is, after all, the most significant trophy of the event (the event is named after it). I would like to see something that can be proudly displayed on a shelf somewhere.

For that matter, I know it is a little over the top, how about a GIGANTIC trophy that has to be given up to the current reining "Fastest third-Gen" each year. Kind of like the Americas Cup (if your in to sailing) or the Stanley cup (if your in to hockey)?

What do you think?

If U win one of the "dash plaques--U don't HAVE to put it on/in your car.

I'm not sure if Kevin89formula can get trophies or not. Kevin did the plaques for the Spring Fling and they looked really good. Have U looked at the pic of the awards from the Spring Fling, on the flyer ?

If that's what we end up doing.....somebody going to have to pay for it, and like I said, I'm not gonna go through what I went through last time to get everybody to pitch in and pay for them.

I still like the "dash plaque" idea. even though its called that, it won't be going on my dash so it doesn't matter, and I have nothing to do with a plaque.

I like esc's idea about the trophy. what do you say, esc, xtremeiroc, the 3 of us go in and get one?

I'm down with $$ for whatever the decision is. I like the plaques, but have no preference.

I suppose the plaques are fine for everything else, but I still like the idea of a trophy (or at least a BIGGER plaque) for the BIG prize.

I think that if enough people are willing to donate a few $$ for the trophy we should get one. What does one cost anyway? I have no idea.

As far as the winnner not returning it next time...well they should give a DL#, address and phone number or something so that they can be tracked down, then barred from future competition and insulted mercilessly on the board if it isn't returned. Also it needs to be returned BEFORE/(or at the beginning of) the next meet so that it can be given to the winner when he wins.

What if hte BIG trophy had a place for a small plaque for each consecutive winner?

Would it be better if I just let U guys take care of the big "Houston Fastest Thiedgen" trophy and deceide what to do with it, and I will take care of the rest of the awards as planned?

Since Kevin89Formula has volunteered his services, I would like to get our final decision to him ASAP, so he is not rushed in getting them done in time!

I would still take care of all of the:

drag strip class winners (dash plaques)
appearance awards (dash plaques)
Best overall appearance (6"x8" wood backed plaque)

Like I said before, I do not know if Kevin has access to trophies, but it would be worth a call/e-mail before U hit the retail trophy shops!?!?

Well, it's not THAT important.

But maybe you can ask him how much a trophy costs, post the info, if enough is donated in time, go for iit. Otherwise a plain old plaque will have to do.

Suggestion: How about an avatar for fastest third gen?

Any of our computer literate folks have an artistic license?

New avatar presented every year, and it would be seen where it matters most, on these boards.

TGO Fastest
Houston Third-Gen, 2005.

Beats carrying a trophy in the back seat!

Willing to kick in on any decision, but can't see the returning trophy working out. We always knew where Australia was!

well, just for grins I checked out trophies online the other day and you can get a pretty good size one for about $30. And I'm talking like 2' tall trophy here, not some little dinky one. I don't think we'll really have much problem with it getting returned, we're all from the Houston area and can always get ahold of each other on here...

I can make an avatar, but you have to explain what it should look like.

Like, the TGO logo with certain words, or pic of their car with words....whatever.

Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking, TGO logo with title, but open to all suggestions.
