Thats why you can vote for ALL the ones you like. You don't have to pick just one.

Anyway the system allows 10, I though I was doing good with only 6.

Well, me personally, I could go for a once a month social meet at a restaurant, as well as a once a month evening at the strip. I think they should be seperate from each other, rather than try to meet at a restaurant and then go out to the strip. Also, think that it SHOULD be rotated around to different strips.

As for the Auto-X, I think that sounds cool, but I do not know a thing about them. Never been.....so to committ to something like that I would first have to go out to one and see what goes on. I know there are a couple others on this board that are into that.

Why don't U get together with them and set up a "Introductry/ educational Thirdgen day at the Auto-X"? It could be, but not HAVE to be, one of our monthly get togethers, making sure that everybody knows it is a gathering to watch as well as participate--not required to participate-- and probably be a good thing if those that are experianced in doing it, actually ran that day. To see one of our group doing it always seems to take away some of the unknown, because it is human nature to be scared of the unknown.

Auto-x
I think that a day at the Auto-X would be fun. The next one is a regional event on December 4th. That is too soon to get organized and it will also be a BIG event(=fewer runs) so it probably is not a good choice. I will keep an eye out for the '06 schedule, maybe in January or Feburary we can make one.

I'll let you know when I find out more.

OK.....you're in charge!

If memory serves, GMan 3MT--Gary, and his girlfriend (sorry don't rember her name--she was at the Oct meet at Sam's boat) are into auto-x. Probably some other are also, that we don't know about. Try and hook up with them and see what's up.

I will definately be there!

You can find a schedule on the Houston chapter of the SCCA's website here:

http://www.houscca.com/calendar.aspx

There is a bunch of other stuff also on that site.

It's a 2 second penalty for each cone...so it might have added up. But if you don't hit ANY cones your not trying hard enough!

Since the track is different every month, you will generally do better and better with each run as you get used to it. The real trick is to avoid ALL the cones on your last run as that should give you your best time.

Even though it's only a slim margin of a 5 to 4 vote, I really like the idea of having a once a month restaurant meet and a once a month drag strip meet.

Since the strips normally have their big shows on Sat nights--think maybe it would be better on Fri nights or Sundays?

Friday nights generally aren't that bad as thats when I usually go. the least number of runs I think I ever got was 3, one night I got 10. If there is something going on on Saturday then yeah there will be more people there, but its never been so packed that you can't get any runs in. Unless it says otherwise on their schedule, on T&T nights you'll get some runs. For the big shows they have their own qualifying on Saturday most of the time so its not a problem.

I think one month social restraunt deal and next month drag strip. That way you don't get tired of either one. People can always race on the off month on a spontaneous basis.

Auto X, not me, my car is not set up for turning. Seems like cars would either be set up for drag racing or Auto cross. It would be hard to do both.
