SFC question

I just got my tax refund and am consirding buying some SFC's. How much did Owen charge for install at the last Modding Party? I just need a ball park figure to estimate my total cost of the mod. I may use the $$ for something else if it's too costly.

Thanks guys and gals

Not sure--at the modding party it was free (although Larry gave him a "tip").

Give him a call and ask.

Owen
ARD--Advanced Racing Dynamics
5023 Addicks Satsuma rd, Suite b,
Houston, Texas, 77084
832-593-9140
From I-10 and highway 6, go north past keith harrow till you reach addicks satsuma. take a right turn and go about 1/2 mile down and you will see the sign and it is located on the left in a business park.

OH... by the way, I posted his address in the "private installers index" in the stickied thread at the top of this page.

Hey Zap,

Since Owen hasn't replied to my e-mail, I tried to call today like you suggested. I called around 8:30 in the a.m. and nobody answered. I left a voice mail and nobody called me back today. I'm wondering if he has more work than he needs or something? Maybe he took off for president day???

Has anybody used g-force here in Pearland? Here is their address.

http://www.gforce-tx.com/home.htm

I'll probably call them tomorrow.

Anybody got any other recomendations on who can install the SFC's?

hitman,
I've got the spohn SFC's if you want to look at them before you order. I went with them because they and alston's are about the only ones that will fit a vert.

Check the thirdgen classifieds board.....U see them for sale there from time to time. new and used (although new would probably be better)

also when U talk to Owen, as talented (and if memory serves) as he is, he can probably make/buikd them from scratch!

Sorry for the confusion, my sfc's are not for sale. I thought that if you wanted to look at something before you buy it, you could look at mine. Mine have not been installed yet.

The spohn's are a lot larger than I thought. They look kinda small in the pictures on their web site, but when I actually saw them they are huge.

question

By huge, do you mean that the SFC's are longer than expected or the diameter of the tubing is larger than expected? How does the powder coating look?

Thanks

I was refering to the diameter. I just went and measure them.
The driver side tube is 45 mm (1 3/4 inch if I read my caliper correctly. 1 inch and 48 1/64ths)

The passenger side is the same diameter as the drivers side except for about a foot. The foot of smaller diameter tube is 32 mm (1 1/4 inch in diameter). The smaller tube is on the front portion. I guess it has to be smaller because of exhaust clearance issues.

The drivers side 'Y piece' (the piece the connects the SFC to the front subframe) is 32 mm.

The pass. side 'Y piece' is 27 mm or 1 1/16 inch.

Anybody have an opinion on how effective the 'Y pieces' will be in
tieing the SFC to the front subframe? The drivers side Y connects to the main SFC with a 'fish eye/mouth' cut.
The pass. side Y, is supposed to be wielded the the top of the SFC and it doesn't have the 'fish eye/mouth' cut. You just lay it on top the the SFC and wield.

The powder coat looks fine to me. Keep in mind that I am not a trained powder coat inspection professional. I have had them laying on the garage floor for about 2 weeks and they get bump every now and then. Any scratches seem to just rub off with my finger.

ARD called today and the SFC's are going to be installed on Tuesday. (I hope it is not raining on Tuesday).

I bought a new camera and took some pictures of what I did this weekend.
My current projects are:
1. Get SFC's installed.
2. Replace torn rear speaker covers. (Thanks Hawks the new covers look perfect).
3. Steam clean carpets.
4. Reroute stereo cables (Amp power, RCA, etc) through factory locations.
5. Clean seats again (since they are out) with Zaino leather cleaner and conditioner.
6. Clean and armor all trim.

Hey Chris,

Not get off subject, but at the monthly U were asking about what the plastic trim piece that covers the edge of the carpet by the door--sill plates!

?????
I have not cleaned it yet. In the picture, the carpets look naster than they look in person. When I loaded the pictures to my computer I couldn't believe how bad they looked.

Anyway, I am leaving tomorrow to go skiing at Whistler Canada. (I've never been skiing before.) I'll be back late Monday. 9:00 a.m. tuesday I have an appt at ARD to get the SFC's wielded in. I hope they do a good job.

I bought a camera yesterday as you can tell. I can take some pictures of the SFC's if you want. Which one's are you looking at?

BTW, I have a $150 hoover carpet cleaner that I got from walmart. They are a must if you have pets or kids. The cleaner has an attachment that will allow me to clean the carpets. It does really well it you get the water boiling on the stove before you put it in the machine. I had an Explorer that I took out a lot of the interior and cleaned the carpets/seats. It looked like a new truck when I got finished.

Can you see the dash in the pics. This weekend I pulled out the air vents and cleaned as far as I could stick my hand. I can't stand to look at the dust in the vents and dash. Since the weather striping is impossible to find, I armor all'd all of it in the front of the car.
