Going to Sealy tonight, Friday

Well the weather wasnt that bad. After the sun went down there was a nice breeze and clouds so it wasn't so hot.

I guess Im happy, ran the best ET ever but not 60' time or mph.

reaction 60' ET MPH
.0198 1.8735 8.4452 81.30
.1037 1.8575 8.3874 81.74

I had a run in the middle of those two where I shifted from first to third, Geez, I need a ratchet shifter. 60' was 1.8508 best of the evening, and I still ran a 8.53 which surprised me. 79.79 mph though.

Well I need to figure a way to get the cutout off without having to jack up the car. There is no way I can spin these tires if I heat them up and then run on a sticky track. I did notice a difference that Im shifting to third somewhat before the finish line, where as with the 3.23 gears I was shifting (or not) right at the line. I was about 4500 rpm at the finish. It will be interesting to run the 1/4.

U can get an electric cutout--just push a button from the drivers seat--only 400.00! Or so

Im going to figure out a way using a shorter tool that I can rotate without it hitting the ground. I tightened the wing nuts with some channel locks, just a little, to be sure they wouldn't come off. I did that while the car was still on jack stands, then threw the channellocks in the car, not thinking that the cutout would only be about 3 inches of the ground. I could just leave them hand tight for the trip to the track then just use my hand with a rag. That's how I put them back on.

I don't need an electric one, to me that is just for street racing, or someone REALLY lazy.

When are you and Barry and I getting togehter for the big raceoff?

Whiner........
You want to race?
If you insist.
At that price, I can't resist,
That's right, that's right, that's right.

Tonight it ain't right,
I got to have me a week.
But I'll be back for you, Jack,
and I'll let the machine speak,
That's right, that's right, that's right.

Showdown, you bet.
And I haven't saddled my pony yet.
Have mercy, Miss Percy.
I done put the coon tune on this bet,
That's right, that's right, that's right.

Im ready. Craig is ready. Two weeks it is. Today is Saturday, so are we saying two weeks from yesterday? I like it. Of course Barry and I will want to go to SEaly, but it is still only a 1/8 mile track. Lets try that first, then later go to HRP or back to Sealy when they get the 1/4 mile track done. Im going to do the tuning thing at ARD, but I don't know who to use for the chip tuning.

ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Larry

Het Barry,

U want to do some shake down runs at HMP and then go to HRP. That's the safe/smart thing to do, but it's up to U.

Let me know when U are ready and we will go the following Fri night.

Yeah, I would like to. I should be doing that next weekend. Working on it today, fixed one problem, caused another. Starter WAS hitting flexplate...........fixed. All vacuum crap hooked up, installing kick-down cable, adjusting, and got it stuck (won't retract) now no reverse. An easy fix, ........next weekend. I swear, if it ain't one thing, it's another......

If you race at Baytown then Ill wait to race the winner at Sealy. 1/4 mile track is supposed to be done by next month. No since in me driving all the way to Baytown unless we have a meet there.

I like to simplify things. When I beat the winner of you two, then I only have to race once to be the winner.

No Larry--Barry and I have a score to settle first-- then U run the loser between Barry and me, and then the winner between Barry and me.

Ive never lost to either one of you. Why would I want to race the loser! The best thing would be a three way raceoff. Otherwise, Settle your score then come looking for me.

I don't really care either, Im just messing. I'll race anybody anytime. I even enjoy racing cars I know are faster than mine, it's like playing tennis with someone who is way better than you, it elevates your own game and is a lot of fun even if you lose.

This weekend looks like a rainout, maybe next weekend. Are you gonna get your chip tuned on the dyno?

I don't think this weekend was being considered anyway. I think Barry is still a couple weeks away.

I wasn't really planning on doing any chip tuning--mine was pretty good according to the Dyno print out!

Barry is always a couple of weeks away

I thought the oxygen sensor deal showed your car as running a bit lean. I know it showed mine running rich and Owen estimated a 20 hp gain with a good chip tuning. When I had the cutout installed he told me that would lean it out a bit. A 20 HP gain for a couple of hundred bucks would be well worth it.

Not sure. It seemed like Mike did a good job before. I just want to make sure it's optimized this time. I was going to go over to ARD this weekend to do it, but with the rain forecast I dont' dare take my car out with these tires.

Yeah, Mike does a very good job, but getting him over there nowadays is the hard part. Last I heard he was working at some performance shop up on the north side of towm--don't emember where. Shoot him a PM. If U can nail him down, then I want to talk to him about doing some fine tuning also.
