Yes change them and also the ball joints while you have it down. I took the a-arms to a local shop and they pressed out the bushings and ball joints and installed the new ones for $20.00 per side. The tool works ok,but a lot more work than using a press.

Re: LCA Bushings?

now how about the poly bushings, i've done some research and heard that these hand leave you with a rough ride and binding, are they worth the money or should i stick with rubber bushings?

Re: LCA Bushings?

In my front end rebuild I used Moog LCA bushings,OEM type,(rubber). I rode in a car with all poly on the front end and it was a bit bone shattering. I used poly on my sway bars and trans and motor mounts. It all comes down to how you want the car to handle. IMO, use a mix,get the best of both worlds without to much rough riding.

Re: LCA Bushings?

Personally, I prefer steel bushings for the front control arms. Since the only movement is on one axis, it will actually move much more freely than with a rubber bushing.

It is about as harsh as adding 5psi to your tires. The difference in the way the car handles is nothing short of amazing. It is by far the most effective modification I have ever made (and I've made a LOT).

I imagine the poly bushings would be a little less harsh and make a little less difference in handling.

Re: LCA Bushings?

The positive is that your control arms will always be EXACTLY where they are supposed to be. Turn in is VERY quick (youll swear you are driving a go-cart) and grip is substantially improved.

Also one of the best things is that nothing funny ever happens. It greatly improved predictability especially when you are drifting.

You can get them from Morosso under teh Herb Adams VSE (Very Special Equipment) line.

The only draw back is that they are harsher than urethane and need to be greased (4 points with a grease gun) about once a month.

I would also recommend getting trailing arms and a panhard rod with steel bushings (some times called Spherical Rod ends or heim joints).

There are NO rubber bushing anywhere in my cars suspension except for the urethane trans mount and a few urethane sway bar bushings. If I see you at the meet I'll take you for a ride and you can decide for yourself if you like it.

Re: LCA Bushings?

There is no doubt that it does make for a harsher ride. How harsh?
Go put an extra 5psi in your tires and drive around...it will be just like that.
