nope not yet. lol sorry. you have to wait for your third gen to turn 25 (i think what it is) and you dont have to run your emissions. you got four years!!!! sucks for me i got six. lol

Yeah it is really 24 years or older... so for us camaro people anything from 1982 til 1985 should not have to do emissions at all. A buddy of mine does state inspections and I ran it by him... Atleast thats the rule he goes by. Also your inspection is just for safety and only runs 12.50.. easy breezy...

Let's all hope cap'n'trade legislation doesn't change that since the cars do emit C02. I'm anxiously awaiting my 87 to be emissions free as well...

Qualifications for Antique License Plates are as follows:

is used exclusively for exhibition, club activities, parades, and other functions of public interest. The
vehicle will in no case be used for regular transportation and will not carry any advertising. A vehicle in
route to and from a location for routine maintenance is allowed.

Remember, just because the car is not being tested by the state, does NOT mean you are free to do what you want. Federal law still applies, and federal law says you cannot remove or disable any emissions devices that came on the car when new. Dont be surprised if the current government decides to force every state to do emissions testing like California does.

That is a very good point. I for one hope it doesn't happen, but there is no telling what kind of crazy thing is going to come out of D.C. these days.
BTW, I believe that the reasoning behind stopping emission testing on cars over 24 years old was because the correct replacement parts may be out of production and impossible to obtain.

I know your in texas but here in pa (I know it's different) even though your car doesn't need emissions testing whether you car is too old or drive less than 5000 miles a year your emissions equipment must visually be there (doesn't mean you can't cap it off and just make it look good) it just has to physically be there .

All the
aside, the biggest hurdle here is sniffer testing.
There's a good chance the inspector will be only SLIGHTLY older than
the vehicle, meaning the visual inspection can be easier to overcome.
So when you remove stuff, try to make it look like it was never
there to begin with, i.e plugging hoses with bolts & hose clamps,
and sealing air tubes by bending them over.
A good tune and exhaust system can usually pass. You probably
will have to have a cat, but newer less restrictive ones can improve
both performance & emissions. I'll try to find a link I have, about a
shop on Fairmont Parkway, that is very good about working with
performance guys.

yeah as for me.... since i have my motor out for my rebuild. my friends re did my wiring to just plain and simple and all that other ecu wiring is now gone. however. i would like to know about that emissions shop on fairmont. but i still dont think i will pass with true duals... lol

you never know about the true duals.. your not putting out the amount of emissions out of one pipe like you are two... IMO i think you'll do find if you tune her up and get her running smooth with some high octane gas... I got my old 82 to pass its last year with a tune up and high octane.. I'm worried about this new 91 z28 I got though... bigger motor than stock so I'm running my emissions... Trick is they don't say you can't have a switch that turns that sh*t off when you don't want / need it running... mmmm relays are great for this kind of thing... where there is will there is a way... I'm more worried honestly about makign the motor look better.. You really can't clean up a tpi like you can a carbed motor... I'm trying my best though and should get a little further this long weekend to getting the springs changed and the new valve covers, wire looms, wires, and various polished aluminum pieces on... Of course I gotta take some aluminum pieces off and strip them and polish them... fun fun right?
