Re: The TEXAS statewide gathering thread
This thread is getting pretty long.
I wonder if we should have another thread that only has specifics:
Time
Place
Events
Expected people
One person from each city could post who will be attending from that city and edit their own posts as needed.

Re: The TEXAS statewide gathering thread
I thought about that, but many people have this thread linked to their siggy on different forums, and I hate to lose the subscriptions to this one
As a mod, do you mind going in and deleting the organizational clutter? I don't care how many posts you delete of mine that have to do with the time/place/date ect...
I bet StePHen feels the same.

Re: The TEXAS statewide gathering thread
I don't mind...but we have already done that once before, I don't want to arbitrarily decide who's posts are worthy, and there is still a long time before the event, this thread may get hundreds more posts by then.
I'm thinking that a summary, sticky and maybe locked thread with < a dozen posts would make it easier for people to get to the bottom line of what is going on. Everyone would continue to post ideas and planning in this thread.

you're the boss... go ahead and do what you think is best. Personally, I think having the first post of this one, continually updated with important info, is just as good than having two threads

There is no reason my idea should carry any more weight than anyone elses.
I don't plan on doing anything, unless some others say they want it.

Re: The TEXAS statewide gathering thread
I added those names to my list in the first post.
Yes, it is early to get an accurate head count. But hopefully seeing a list will encourage people to come, since they'll see that it wouldn't just be 5 local ATGO guys showing up.

Re: The TEXAS statewide gathering thread
exactly... I count over 40 people so far... that's VERY exciting.
I think as the event draws closer, we could get 75-100 third gens there. wouldn't that be AMAZING?

Re: The TEXAS statewide gathering thread
I just thought of a cool way to promote this outside of TGO and the other TG forums...
When we start the swap meet thread, we can go to the craigslist for each major city in Texas, and put a listing in the parts section.
In this listing we can direct people's attention to the thread listing the parts, and also talk up the gathering. It wouldn't get flagged (I don't think) because it actually would be about selling parts, and at the same time it would attract people that check craigslist on a daily basis, but may not visit TGO.
Anbody else have any other promation ideas?

Re: The TEXAS statewide gathering thread
we're going to start the swap meet thread in the south central classified section, and StePHen can put all really important information in the first post of this thread.

you're in luck! Georgetown is very close to Killeen. Won't take you long at all to get there. you know anybody else from that area that might be interested?

Re: The TEXAS statewide gathering thread
Well, mapquest said 4 and 10 minutes from Conroe, not to mention the unwanted possibility of breaking down all the way out there and 4.30 gears.

Re: The TEXAS statewide gathering thread
from conroe? ug... that's one of those "no man's lands" without a direct path from there to austin.
For what it's worth, my mapping program says 3 hours, 17 minutes, but you have to go up to madisonville, go down to Bryan, up to Hearne, and then take 79 over to round rock

oh wait... try it this way... take 105 over to navasota, and then 190 over to hearne. That takes the trip down to 169 miles, or 3 hours

Cool! we're up over 50 people now.
eventually we will ahve to not only get a head count of how many people are coming, but also ask if anybody is bringing friend or family with them to lunch, just so we have a good count for Duke's

Jekyll & Hyde will be on a trailer to get there, since I neglected her during the wedding and house hunting.
Add one 800+ HP vette to the group of cars, although not a third gen, still a car enthusiast.
Head count for my group:
Me + Wife
Jeff + girlfriend (possibly)

61 with guests (known guests so far)
PM your # of guests, so that we can get an accurate head count, for seating purposes. I don't wanna tell him "75 seats" then we need 150 seats (2 per member)!

I'd really like to go, but it's kinda up to my parents since I'm still only 16. Haha.
So I won't know til we get closer.
Would probly bring at least 4 if I can.

that's so true.... As the number creaps up, I'll stay in contact with the manager of Duke's and make sure we're ok.

Will we break 100?
